A Cozy Slice of Everyday Life in Korea, Told Through Food and Love

This post is a collection of ordinary yet meaningful December moments, filled with food, small celebrations, creative work, and warm relationships.
From comforting meals near the office to handmade gifts, exhibitions, and gatherings with friends, each day is recorded with honest emotions and casual humor.
It reflects the rhythm of daily life at the end of the year, balancing exhaustion, joy, indulgence, and anticipation for a fresh new start.
Small Celebrations and Everyday Emotions
I just turned into a dozen eggs. I'm just an old baby~! I wanted to eat mala soup, buy some kitty stuff, and just laugh while having fun.
I worked hard to create something for my fandom friends. It was a Kurikawa Shioning Urokubam Bubble Cat, but the paint flew off, so I had to draw its face with a marker. That somehow made it even more memorable.
Comfort Food Near the Office
One of my favorite spots near the office is Uijeongbu Gamjatang, but I always end up ordering bone soup instead of gamjatang.
The kimchi there is really delicious. Good, good, very good. On especially cold days, I went next door to Hanchon Seolleongtang for something warm.
Spicy Soup and Unexpected Side Dishes
I ordered nurungji-banjeongguk, but it was spicier than expected. When the staff asked if I liked squid jeotgal, I shyly said yes.
It’s one of my favorite side dishes, so it felt like good fortune that day.
Gifts, Birthdays, and Handmade Effort
My partner’s Santa gift was our company uniform, which made us laugh. Mine felt tight under the arms, and I worried I had gained weight, but it turned out to be defective.
I also prepared a birthday card inspired by Shin Yu, who’s trending these days. I handmade a 3D card and felt genuinely proud of it.
Food Adventures and Favorite Restaurants
After a long time, I went back to Tamtam. It was just as fantastic as I remembered. I really wish they’d open a branch in Uijeongbu.
My partner brought back gifts from Qingdao. I tasted everything lightly, kept only the beer for my mom, and she left a review saying it was delicious.
Hot Pot, Bossam, and Local Favorites
Other than Haidilao, I hadn’t tried many hot pot places, but Olivaba completely won me over. Unlimited lamb skewers with amazing sauce made it worth the price.
In Yongin, Daedeokgol Bossam Kalguksu stood out. The kimchi alone makes it a must-visit, and the clear, refreshing kalguksu was worth ordering even when I was already full.
Exhibitions, Friends, and Shared Time
I visited Bokdong’s exhibition, hoping to buy two-cheon-kku, but it sold out right in front of me. I was disappointed, but still enjoyed the artwork.
There was even a flower bouquet event for Bokdong, who loves Luffy. I couldn’t execute my original idea, but I was happy they liked it.
Year-End Gatherings and Holiday Moments
Christmas was spent at home. Jae-woo cooked everything, I prepared the salad and balloons, and then I just laid down.
We also gathered with friends for a year-end party, ordered too much food, laughed at unexpected desserts, and enjoyed spicy stew that turned out to be addictive.
Quiet Reflections and a New Beginning
I went to a sauna that’s famous for body scrubbing. I spent two quiet hours in the tub, felt dizzy, but came out feeling like a peeled egg with soft skin.
December 24 was my last working day. I planned to take a week off, rest, and be reborn with renewed energy.
I’ll work hard, play, eat, and welcome the New Year with hope. May everyone receive lots of blessings in the coming year.
