Udaepo: Must-Visit Korean BBQ Spot in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon!
I always noticed Udaepo, a famous beef restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon, whenever I passed the umbrella street!
Located on the first floor of Bongmyeong-dong's Mad Block, Udaepo is right next to Yongyong Restaurant.
Parking is supported, and it's close to the bus stop, making it easily accessible by public transportation!
Since you can't resist a drink with delicious beef, I recommend leaving your car at home~
We made a reservation and visited after the dinner rush, so most of the teams had already left after eating!
The interior is spacious and clean, making it great for company dinners, and it's also a nice place for couples to come on a date.
Udaepo's menu features signature items like marinated beef short rib, raw short rib, and diced chuck flap tail, as well as yukhoe (beef tartare), steamed egg, noodles, fried rice, bibimbap, and more.
First, we ordered 3 servings of marinated beef short rib!
The side dishes were diverse and all delicious.
I especially miss the fragrant water dropwort (minari) – it paired so well with the beef short rib ㅠ.ㅠ
The fermented green onion kimchi (pa-kimchi) and crunchy chili pepper pickles also helped cut through the richness, and the ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce) with sesame oil was so savory and delicious.
The marinated beef short rib was piled up in layers!
It was packed with garlic, scallions, and sesame seeds and marinated in a special sauce.
It was moderately sweet and melt-in-your-mouth tender - Udaepo's marinated beef short rib is truly something else.
I was talking about delicious beef restaurants with a friend the other day, and they recommended Udaepo, praising how good it was.
Now I understand why they raved about the beef short rib...
The melt-in-your-mouth texture is a given, and the seasoning wasn't overly sweet. The sesame seed texture was perfect.
If it's too sweet, you can only eat a few pieces before it gets overwhelming, but Udaepo's was moderately sweet with the aroma of garlic and the texture of sesame seeds, making it so delicious...
I can't forget the first bite...
I kept saying it was delicious while eating.
It was delicious on its own, delicious with side dishes, delicious no matter how you ate it – it was truly a beef restaurant!
We got the Kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) with a Naver coupon!
They said it would take a little longer to cook because it was made with thick noodles, but it came out quickly!
The broth had an amazing savory flavor, and it was the perfect pairing with the beef short rib.
The beef short rib was so delicious that we ordered raw short rib as an additional dish...!
It was a different kind of beef from the marinated short rib, but it also melted in my mouth.
