Tomoru Sushi: A Taste of Japan in Daegu's Dongseongro

As someone who enjoys working out and prefers clean, bite-sized meals over excessive or spicy foods, I often indulge in sushi.
I had heard reviews recommending Tomoru Sushi as a must-try Japanese restaurant in Daegu's Dongseongro area. So, when I had the chance to visit Dongseongro, I decided to check out Daegu Tomoru Sushi!
Daegu Tomoru Sushi
Hours: 11:30 AM - 10:00 PM (Break Time: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
They offer group seating, takeout, delivery, and reservations.
Like most shops in Dongseongro's alleys, parking directly in front of the restaurant can be challenging. Daegu Tomoru Sushi is also not directly parkable in front, but it's close to Banwoldang Station Exits 10 and 11. Therefore, it's recommended to park nearby and walk, or use public transportation.
Tomoru Sushi's main branch is in Dongseongro, and they also have a branch in Beomeo-dong. Keep that in mind!
See that? Totoro welcomes you at the entrance! The adorable Totoro figures decorating the exterior already hinted at the charming, Japanese-inspired atmosphere of this Banwoldang Japanese restaurant.
Being a popular Banwoldang Japanese restaurant, there was a wait. Even the waiting list paper, with Japanese on the front and a waiting number on the back, showed a delicate Japanese touch.
I appreciated that they displayed large menus prominently in front of the restaurant. It allowed me to browse and decide what to order while waiting.
After waiting, I finally entered Tomoru Sushi and placed my order. While waiting for the food, I enjoyed looking around the interior, taking pictures of the cute decorations and Japanese-style touches.
I ordered the recommended Assorted Sushi. Most menu items include steamed egg and udon noodles.
Since I love salmon sushi, I was torn between ordering all salmon or the assorted platter. A game of chance led me to choose the assorted option!
I wanted to taste a variety of sushi, so I enjoyed the Assorted Sushi piece by piece. The salmon sushi was among the thickest I've ever had!
All the sushi were thick and fresh, making it fun and enjoyable to try different kinds.
The thick sushi had a wonderful texture with every bite, allowing me to savor the flavors for a long time. It was excellent!
Even the tray the sushi came on had cute decorations!
The steamed egg was Japanese-style, so it was incredibly soft and pudding-like. It melted in my mouth so quickly that I was sad when it was gone.
From now on, when I think of Daegu sushi restaurants, Tomoru Sushi will definitely come to mind.
The sushi were all fresh and thick.
The udon noodles were chewy, and drinking the broth cleansed my palate.
As someone who frequents Daegu sushi restaurants, I would definitely revisit this Banwoldang Japanese restaurant and bring my friends.
Lately, I haven't had much of an appetite due to the summer heat, but the sushi at Tomoru Sushi melted in my mouth, allowing me to enjoy a satisfying meal for the first time in a while.
I recommend Tomoru Sushi to anyone looking for a great Japanese restaurant in Daegu's Dongseongro area!
Daegu's average daytime temperature is around 33-34 degrees Celsius, and it's very humid. It's the kind of Daegu weather you never really get used to.
Wishing everyone good health for the rest of this hot August, I'll end my post here. I'll be back with more helpful and informative content in my next post.
