During my recent trip to Gwangalli, Busan, I had an unforgettable culinary experience at a restaurant that had a never-ending stream of customers: The Joheun Hanwoo (더좋은한우). I paid for this meal myself and I was hooked!

As soon as I saw the bustling interior, I knew I was in for a treat. After tasting the food, I understood why it was so popular. I'm excited to share this fantastic place with you all.

As soon as you step inside, you'll notice the certification verifying that they sell authentic Korean beef, which instilled confidence in the quality. I was ready to try everything on the menu and sat down with anticipation.

They're open from 12 PM to 11 PM every day, except Mondays, which is their regular day off. So, you can easily visit and enjoy a meal any other day.

Walking along Gwangalli Beach Road, you can easily spot the restaurant on the first floor of a large building. The large sign is eye-catching, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. They even have ample underground parking for customers who drive.

I was captivated by the view from my seat. The stunning scenery of the Gwangan Bridge and the ocean, seen through the large windows, elevated the dining experience. The spacious table arrangement also made it perfect for group gatherings or company dinners.

As the writing on the wall inside says, this restaurant carefully selects only the highest grade (1+) Korean beef. It's already well-known among locals for offering high-quality Korean beef at reasonable prices. That's why there were more Busan natives than tourists.

After carefully reviewing the menu, I chose the 2-person set. I was already hungry, but just hearing the names of the dishes made my stomach rumble even more!

The side dishes, served in individual bowls, were visually appealing. This attention to detail heightened my anticipation for the Korean beef I was about to taste.

First to catch my eye was the marinated skate (Gao-ri Muchim 가오리무침), which had a uniquely spicy flavor. It was perfectly seasoned, slightly salty, and suited my taste. There was no fishy smell at all, and the chewy texture was very unique.

The green onion salad (Pa-chae Muchim 파채무침), mixed with crisp vegetables, had a sweet and sour taste that stimulated my appetite. The subtle sesame oil aroma cleansed the palate from the richness of the meat. The spicy and fresh vegetable flavors filled my mouth, adding a refreshing touch.

The creamy and savory macaroni salad was an unexpected delight. The popping corn kernels added a variety of textures, providing more enjoyment. The sweet mayonnaise dressing provided a delightful flavor that filled the mouth. Thanks to the diverse side dishes, the pleasure of the taste never stopped.

I was satisfied that this place offers 400 grams of meat in various cuts instead of just one, which can get tiring. The sirloin, short rib, and chuck flap tail all had distinct marbling and vibrant color. I could immediately tell that the ingredients were of the highest quality.

Due to my intense hunger, the 400-gram Korean beef platter was enough for two people. I was determined to eat every last bite and I did just that!

I carefully placed each slice of sirloin on the hot grill. The subtle sheen made the texture of the meat even more appealing. The sizzling sound and savory aroma made my stomach rumble.

The specially selected salt had less sodium and a rich savory flavor compared to regular salt. This salt brought out the best in the freshly grilled Korean beef. The juices that exploded out of the meat were amazing.

The flavor of the Korean beef was maximized when eaten with just the sliced onions, and it melted in my mouth. Also, it was amazing to put the beef on top of rice and eat it like sushi. The meat is so tender that people with weak teeth can enjoy it without any problems.

Next, the chuck flap tail was carefully grilled to about 80% doneness, so that the most tender texture could be experienced. The friendly staff even gave us tips on how to enjoy it, so I could focus only on the flavor.

As the staff suggested, I tried eating the Korean beef with the marinated skate. The sweet and spicy marinated skate combined with the Korean beef juices created a fantastic harmony. The chewy texture of the skate and the tenderness of the Korean beef seemed to dance in my mouth. I was amazed that there was no fishy taste, only a deep umami flavor.

The chuck flap tail I tasted with the green onion salad left a deep impression. The not-too-strong sauce brought out the rich and deep flavor of the Korean beef as it was. It also got rid of the greasiness, so I was able to eat it without stopping.

Next up was the short rib with its delicate marbling. It came pre-cut into bite-sized pieces, so I could enjoy it easily without having to cut it myself.

It was amazing to see the juices forming on the surface before I even ate it. As soon as I picked it up and ate it, a whole new world of flavor opened up. The soft texture and savory flavor created a more perfect harmony than I expected.

It was delicious on its own, and it was amazing with the side dishes. Because there were so many options, I didn't get tired of it until the last bite. It was so delicious that I was able to try new combinations without hesitation.

I didn't expect much from the soybean paste stew (Doenjang-jjigae 된장찌개) at The Joheun Hanwoo because it's a familiar dish. But adding Korean beef made all the difference in the flavor. As soon as I took a spoonful of the very savory and deep flavor, an exclamation came out of my mouth. Other restaurants often skimp on the amount or the ingredients, but here, there was plenty. I realized once again that the famous restaurants with reasonable prices are different.

I was full enough, but I added a cold noodle soup (Mul-naengmyeon 물냉면) to cleanse the greasy feeling. Just seeing the cold, icy broth before it was served gave me a refreshing feeling all over my body. As I slurped the chewy and moist noodles with crisp vegetables, all that was left was an empty bowl. My mouth was left with a clean taste, and I was able to complete my meal.

Of course, I also had some soju with my delicious meal. I experienced one of the best Korean beef restaurants in Gwangalli, Busan. There are many places that are overpriced and bland, but this place was different. I was impressed by the friendly service and the chance to enjoy top-quality Korean beef at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan!
