Sukgil Butcher Shop: Delicious Grilled Pork in Yeonnam-dong

Craving meat in Yeonnam-dong, I visited Sukgil Butcher Shop (숲길정육점).
Here, the staff grills the meat for you, so all you have to do is eat!
I went around 3 PM, and there was no line, so I was able to go right in and enjoy a relaxing meal.
(My own money, honest review)
Review of Sukgil Butcher Shop, a Yeonnam-dong BBQ place serving charcoal-grilled pork jowl (Hangjeongsal).
Basic Information
Name: Sukgil Butcher Shop (숲길정육점)
Address: 1st Floor, 256 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Hours: Daily 13:00 ~ 23:00
Features: Charcoal grill, BBQ restaurant where they grill the meat for you, waiting times during dinner (especially on weekends)
It was easy to find as it's located on a main street, and a large sign is immediately visible. From the outside, it had the typical Korean BBQ restaurant feel.
Restaurant Atmosphere
Inside, each table has copper-colored ventilation hoods, and the scent of charcoal permeates the air. It has the unique atmosphere of a BBQ restaurant. I went during a less busy time, so I could eat quietly, and it was more convenient because the staff grilled the meat for me.
Menu & Prices
Hang-Kkeop-I (Pork Jowl + Pork Skin): ₩46,000
Bibim Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Noodles): ₩6,000
✔️Total: ₩52,000 (for 2 people)
Food Review
The pork jowl (Hangjeongsal) was thick and had a great charcoal flavor, making it very savory. I was satisfied with the substantial chewy texture.
However, I ordered the Hang-Kkeop-I set, and the ratio of pork skin was quite high, so I wish there had been more pork jowl. The pork skin itself was chewy and good, but the only dipping sauce available was soybean powder (kong-go-mul), which felt a bit monotonous. It would have been better to have a spicy sauce like other restaurants.
The bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) had a sour and slightly spicy sauce, making it a perfect combination with the meat. Taking a bite when things get greasy made my mouth feel completely refreshed, so it was great to eat with the meat.
The basic side dishes were seasoned lettuce salad (sangchu muchim), braised tofu, pickled onions, and garlic. The seasoned lettuce salad went the best with the meat, and the braised tofu was also savory and tempting.
• The pork jowl is thick and has a good charcoal flavor, so it's delicious
• The staff grills the meat for you, so it's easy to eat
• The Hang-Kkeop-I set has a high ratio of pork skin, which is a bit disappointing
• The pork skin sauce is simple, which is a bit disappointing
• The bibim naengmyeon sauce goes perfectly with the meat
• The seasoned lettuce salad is the best among the side dishes
Next time, I want to try other sets besides Hang-Kkeop-I.
