Sending Off the In-Laws to Italy and Discovering a Hidden Culinary Gem Near the Airport

My in-laws embarked on their trip to Italy.
To share in their emotional moment as they left for their first (and possibly last) European adventure, I ditched the daughter to get herself up and off to school, and headed to my in-laws' place.
Getting up early left me tired, but I guess it showed a little.
As soon as I got in the car, my father-in-law said, "Sorry for making you so tired."
Anyway, we found the HanaTour desk at Incheon Airport, and for the first time ever, I went to Gate 1.
Why didn't anyone ever tell me you could see the airplanes from this end of the airport?
The photo turned out a bit gloomy, but even though it was cloudy, the sun was surprisingly bright, and it was great to see the big, vibrant planes.
As someone sending their in-laws to Italy for the first time, I quickly snapped a picture, found the tour representative, listened to the briefing, got their tickets, and went over the itinerary with them. It was so hectic that I almost lost my phone (thanks to my husband for saving the day!).
They wanted to go through security early, so we said our goodbyes at 9:30 AM. I grabbed a Krispy Kreme donut and started searching for good restaurants nearby. (Hehe)
If I hadn't had work that day, I would have loved to hang out at the airport. But because of my schedule, I needed to grab a quick meal, rest at home, and then head to the office, so I rushed to find a place to eat. And we succeeded! Hehehe.
Our Wheat Noodle Soup (우리밀 칼국수)
Opens at 10:00 AM
We arrived at 10:10 AM and the place was empty.
You have to take your shoes off, but they have tables and chairs, which is my kind of style.
I was so hungry and tired that I ordered without thinking and just spaced out until the food arrived. Then, I got super excited.
We ordered two servings of *kalguksu* (noodle soup), and the portion was HUGE! But it turned out it wasn't the noodles, but the clams that made it seem so large! (So much love for that)
It was so refreshing, full of clams, and the broth was so clean. My mouth didn't feel salty afterwards, so I don't think they use a lot of MSG.
And the most important part of this restaurant is definitely the:
Seafood Pancake (해물 파전)!
My husband and I have decided not to call it a pancake anymore.
We're going to call it a vegetable fritter.
I wonder if anyone knows how delicious a deep-fried onion is? It had the most incredible crispy-on-the-inside texture, I wish I knew the secret!

We ate about half of it there and took the rest home.
I couldn't eat it that day because I had to go to work, but my husband and daughter ate the rest, and I ate the last piece the next day dipped in my favorite dipping sauce (ranch).
Oh my goodness, so delicious. Writing this makes me want to eat it again... that seafood pancake...
This restaurant is great for *kalguksu*, but I'd say it's a real gem for the seafood pancake.

I definitely want to go back if I have any business near the airport in the future.
