Hello! I recently visited 'Shinseon Suljip Dowon,' a popular bar in the Konkuk University area. The restaurant is very spacious, occupying the 2nd through 4th floors of the building. We settled down on the 2nd floor, which features a Korean-style pub.
There's a staircase inside the 2nd floor that leads up to the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor offers even more private spaces and is quieter than the 2nd floor, making it ideal for conversations.
We also took the elevator up to the 4th floor. The large room on the 4th floor can accommodate up to 25 people, making it suitable for large group events such as company dinners.
Overall, the atmosphere was fantastic with a luxurious interior designed around a traditional Korean house theme. The availability of private rooms makes it a great place for company dinners, meeting rooms, parties, birthday celebrations, gatherings, and other events. (Apparently, it's the only bar in the Konkuk University area with private group rooms.)
The menu offers a wide variety of dishes and drinks at reasonable prices.
Plus, as a handmade cuisine specialty restaurant, they generously use fresh ingredients purchased directly from the wholesale market, providing plentiful portions for all dishes. It's also great as a satisfying meal.
The basic side dish is perilla seed seaweed soup, which was savory and delicious. If you order the sujebi (hand-pulled noodle soup), you'll also get kimchi that was salty and delicious
Turns out, the kimchi is homemade, not store-bought! It had a unique quality, different from mass-produced kimchi.
We ordered the 'Dowon Gyeolui,' which was a clean and refreshing drink with a peach flavor. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious!
Since I had been eating a lot of holiday food recently, my stomach felt a bit heavy, so I ordered the spicy Jangsu Sujebi. The sujebi seemed to be made with hand-kneaded dough, and it was perfect for a hangover. It was delicious and had plenty of vegetables.
The presentation was amazing!
Because I was feeling a bit hungry, I also ordered the Bacon Pepper Cheese Kimchi Pancake. It looked like a pizza, which was interesting!
There's a solid fuel underneath the kimchi pancake, so you can enjoy it warm for quite a while.
I felt that the staff and owner were very friendly during my visit, and they even provide hair straighteners in the restroom! And even contact lens cases! This kind of thoughtful care is touching.
They also have a wide variety of makgeolli (Korean rice wine) options, making it a great place for anyone to enjoy a light meal. This has been a review of the trendy Konkuk University bar, 'Shinseon Suljip Dowon.'
Goodbye!
