Hello, everyone! This is Mingming :)

I traveled during the second week of August, when it was incredibly hot.

It was a particularly scorching summer day, and we were planning to hike Seongindae Peak in Geumgangsan Mountain.

So, I wanted to eat something filling and nourishing before the hike.

That's why we decided to visit Sokcho Seafood Flower Jang Kalguksu!

Address: 4, Joyang-ro 118beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do

This restaurant is located near Sokcho's Cheongcho Lake.

We stayed overnight in Naksansa Temple the day before, and after searching online, we found this place about 20 minutes away.

We heard they had Jang Kalguksu with plenty of seafood, so we went for it!

Dreamlike Moment

Parking: There is a dedicated parking lot right next to the restaurant.

It can accommodate about 7-8 cars, so we had no trouble parking.

Beautiful Landscape

Sokcho Seafood Flower Jang Kalguksu Opening Hours:

Daily 10:00 - 20:00

Last Order 19:30

Closed every Tuesday

They are open from early morning until evening, so it's great to visit anytime you crave it.

We arrived at lunchtime on a holiday, and the place was packed. We didn't have to wait, but the customers behind us did.

It's such a popular restaurant that we were excited even while waiting for our food.

Hopeful Tomorrow

We ordered: <Energy Boosting> Special Seafood Flower Platter ₩25,000 *2

We ordered the Seafood Flower Platter Shabu Kalguksu, which allows you to enjoy seafood, shabu-shabu, and Jang Kalguksu all at once.

The menu is simple but distinctive, making it easy to order without much 고민 (consideration).

Precious Memory

Visual Explosion! Today's main menu arrived,

The round platter was filled with various seafood, meat, and vegetables. I thought that eating just one of these platters would make me feel properly energized during the hot summer.

Hopeful Tomorrow

They even gave us one bellflower sprout each, according to the number of people, and I felt really satisfied even after eating just that small piece :)

Fun Moment

From the blue crab, which is great for making the broth, to the bouncy octopus, squid, shrimp, mussels, scallops, and various clams, along with bean sprouts, mushrooms, bok choy, and thinly sliced beef brisket...

Isn't it pretty like a flower?

Charming Photo

The broth is so rich and refreshing, made with oriental raisin tree, Phellinus linteus mushrooms, and dried shrimp.

You could easily finish a bowl of rice just with the broth alone, and with all the seafood added, I'm definitely getting a proper energy boost today!

Beautiful Landscape

We followed their instructions on how to eat it deliciously, starting with the crab, then adding the clams, mussels, scallops, and surf clams in order.

Some of them were already partially cooked, so instead of overcooking them, we only left them in for about 2-3 minutes before taking them out and eating them.

Dreamlike Moment

The plump octopus and fresh abalone... I felt a little sorry when I put the live abalone into the broth 😅

Warm Memory

If you leave the squid or octopus in for too long, it can become tough, so just blanch it briefly.

Personally, my favorite seafood was the octopus. It was so bouncy and chewy, not tough at all, and full of tenderness.

Being able to enjoy both octopus and squid at once... I'm so glad I came to Sokcho Seafood Flower Jang Kalguksu!

A Splendid Scene

Once you've eaten some of the seafood, you can't leave out the meat!

Add the crispy, fresh bean sprouts and the meat all at once, and enjoy it like a meat shabu-shabu this time.

Wonderful Photo

After enjoying the refreshing broth with the seafood, adding the meat for a richer flavor is also excellent.

Adding all sorts of vegetables creates a deep flavor from the vegetable broth, which is really appealing, so make sure to taste the broth at this point.

Wonderful Photo

The grand finale: handmade noodles infused with herbal ingredients.

The deep broth flavor permeates the chewy noodles made with Phellinus linteus mushrooms and oriental raisin tree.

Of all the Sokcho Jang Kalguksu I've eaten, this had the richest flavor!

Hopeful Tomorrow

Lifting up the hot Sokcho Jang Kalguksu noodles and eating them with kimchi is a flavor that chases away the heat.

I really got a proper energy boost coming to Sokcho today.

Peaceful Landscape

Can you roughly see how many customers have been here?

This is how many clam shells they’ve used today!

This is a restaurant that people of all ages are looking for.

Mysterious Appearance

I had a great day recharging my energy on my Sokcho trip.

Thanks to it, I was able to hike with energy. My stomach was full, and it was a pleasant trip.

If I want to eat Jang Kalguksu or get an energy boost next time, I think I'll come here.
