Must-Try Grilled Hairtail at Chunsimine in Jeju!

When traveling to Jeju, you absolutely HAVE to try grilled hairtail! My husband had visited Chunsimine several times while working in Jeju, so I trusted his recommendation without hesitation.

We arrived a bit late, but the restaurant was still quite crowded.

We ordered the 2-person portion of whole grilled hairtail. We considered getting the grilled + braised set, but since we had the kids with us, we opted just for the grilled option. The braised set is the same price but comes with a slightly smaller hairtail.

You can even choose the saltiness level; we went with the regular option.

The side dishes were plentiful and delicious! They were so good, we were ready to eat a bowl of rice just with the side dishes before the hairtail even arrived. The day before was my husband's birthday, and since we were traveling, I couldn't make him seaweed soup. So, I told him to enjoy this seaweed soup at least! Haha.

You can refill any of the side dishes you need at the self-service bar, except for Japchae (glass noodles with vegetables). You need to ask a staff member to refill that one.

Finally, the grilled hairtail arrived!!

They even took a photo of us with the hairtail! The staff were all incredibly friendly.

It's not easy to debone fish while eating with kids, but they neatly removed all the bones for us. They are basically hairtail bone experts! We just had to feed the kids!

They suggested eating it with the pickled onions, which they placed on top. It was delicious!

However, while eating, we did find quite a few large salt crystals. It's fine for adults, but if you have young children, it might be a good idea to ask for it without salt. Still, the flavor of the grilled hairtail was excellent! Now I'm curious about the braised hairtail too... I definitely have to try it!
