Miu Bonga: A Hearty and Satisfying Meal in Jeju
During my Jeju trip, I was struggling to decide what to eat for dinner. Luckily, I stumbled upon Miu Bonga and decided to give it a try. Here's my review!
Located just an 8-minute drive from Jeju Airport and about an 8-minute walk from Lotte City Hotel Jeju, the restaurant is incredibly accessible. If you're staying nearby, it's a perfect, hassle-free option.
As soon as I walked in, I saw a poster for their signature Jeju Halmang Mel-Gang 된장 (fermented soybean paste with anchovies). Apparently, they've been featured on TV, which definitely raised my expectations! The interior was clean and the staff were very friendly.
The side dishes were neatly presented and included kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled onions, and dried anchovies. The bean sprouts were especially great with the garlic braised short ribs (Galbi Jjim), making it perfect for mixing with rice.
The Galbi Jjim wasn't overly seasoned and the meat was incredibly tender. I thought it would be a great option for families with children.
They offer unlimited rice and soup, which was very satisfying. To top it off, a 순두부찌개 (soft tofu stew) was served as a complimentary dish! I couldn't ask for more!
I chopped up the garlic braised short ribs, mixed it with the bean sprouts and rice. Even without sesame oil or seaweed flakes, the flavor of the meat and sauce was amazing!
It felt like a warm, home-cooked meal. Their 갈비탕 (Galbi Tang - short rib soup) is also a popular menu item, so I definitely want to try it next time.
If you're looking for a generous and filling meal in Jeju, I highly recommend Miu Bonga!
