Matcha Heaven: Exploring a Kyoto-esque Cafe in Sinsa, Seoul

Hello! Recently, I've been obsessed with matcha, so I decided to embark on a Seoul matcha tour. Today, I visited Chatten, a cafe near Sinsa Station in Garosu-gil.
Chatten
Address: 1st Floor, 68 Gangnam-daero 152-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
Hours: Monday-Sunday 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM
This Japanese-style cafe feels like a trip to Kyoto. The interior has about six tables.
When dining in, you can only order the dessert set.
On the menu:
Matcha Latte (₩12,000)
Matcha Latte Set (Matcha Latte + Matcha Ukishima)
Matcha Parfait (₩17,000)
We ordered the Matcha Latte Set with Matcha Ukishima as our dessert, and also the Matcha Parfait, which I really wanted to try. I also wanted to try the Matcha shaved ice, but they said that if I order the Matcha shaved ice, I have to order other menus additionally because of 1 menu for 1 person rule...
The prices are a bit on the expensive side.
As expected of a matcha cafe, they have a wide variety of matcha menu items!
They also have a takeout menu, which is slightly cheaper than dining in.
They had many interesting desserts, such as matcha jelly, matcha caramel, matcha pudding, and Anmitsu.
These are Japanese-inspired desserts.
The atmosphere of the cafe is beautiful and cozy, which went well with the rainy day vibes.
I captured a video of the barista preparing the matcha using a whisk after we placed our order.
It was my first time seeing matcha being whisked, and it felt like a truly authentic matcha specialty shop.
Matcha Parfait
₩17,000
Wow, the visually appealing Matcha Parfait has arrived! Doesn't it look delicious?
The Matcha Parfait includes matcha & hojicha ice cream, agar, matcha jelly, matcha Ukishima, milk pudding, grain ohagi, sweet red bean paste, coconut tuile, matcha tuile, and candied chestnuts.
As soon as I took a bite of the matcha ice cream, the rich matcha flavor was so delicious!
The parfait is quite large, so it's good for sharing between two people. The grain ohagi is like a soft rice cake, unique and delicious, and the matcha Ukishima was like a soft castella cake.
The jelly inside the parfait had almost no flavor. It's something worth trying once!

Matcha Latte (Matcha Latte + Matcha Ukishima)
₩12,000
For the dessert set, I chose the Matcha Latte and Matcha Ukishima. There were several dessert options, and I was torn between the matcha ohagi and Ukishima, but I chose the Matcha Ukishima.
It's like a soft matcha castella cake.
I ordered the Matcha Latte with less sugar, and as soon as I took a sip, all the other matcha lattes I've had at other cafes were forgotten. It felt like the real matcha flavor!
As expected of a matcha specialty shop, the rich matcha flavor was great.
The matcha Ukishima was also not too sweet and soft, which made it delicious. I'm also curious about trying the matcha ohagi.
Although the prices are expensive, if you want to enjoy real matcha at a matcha specialty shop, I recommend Chatten.
The atmosphere is nice, and you can experience the true taste of matcha, so if you like matcha, it's worth trying once.
If you're looking for a matcha cafe in Sinsa Station, Seoul, I recommend Chatten in Garosu-gil!
