Jinju House: A Hidden Gem in Namdaemun Market

Welcome!
Today, we're visiting Jinju House, a famous tail meat restaurant located in Namdaemun Market near Hoehyeon Station.
My mom saw it on YouTube and wanted to check it out, so we quickly gathered and went there.
Although it's tucked inside the eel stew alley, finding it wasn't difficult thanks to detailed maps.
Unfortunately, I couldn't take a photo of the exterior!
At the entrance, there are many blue ribbon stickers, indicating it's a long-standing favorite!
This market is home to many old restaurants, and it's better to eat without glasses to overlook hygiene.
However, considering the prices, it's hard to overlook them, especially since it's Hanwoo beef.
Why are all special cuts so expensive?
We ordered one tail stew!
Luckily, we went at an off-peak time, so there was no waiting, just a few foreign customers and some elderly gentlemen.
Here are the side dishes!
The kimchi was surprisingly sweet, and the radish kimchi was delicious!
The chive sauce had quite a kick!
I couldn't take a video, but they served the tails in a large earthen pot and heated them with broth!
It was quite fascinating.
The tail stew had a unique visual; it felt more like a ginseng chicken soup with tails in it.
There was no chicken or ginseng, but the broth was tasty!
My blogger sibling supported me well, and I even took a short video.
Let me share something fun!
My blog doesn't only feature restaurants, but if the thumbnail moves, it means it's delicious.
Some places don't have moving thumbnails, but they do exist.
Throughout the meal, I thought this would be a great drinking snack, but none of us drink, so we had it with cola.
Adding chives made it even better...
It felt nourishing.
When we were almost done, I requested some noodles, and they added them to the broth!
It was delicious!
I found the broth so tasty that I ordered an extra bowl of rice!
I felt a bit unsatisfied with just one bowl, but when I checked the price, it was 2,000 won.
When I asked if that was correct, they said a small bowl costs 1,000 won, and a large bowl costs 2,000 won!
We ended up paying 1,000 won for a small bowl.
If I hadn't checked, I would have felt quite disappointed!
Interestingly, the other customers while we were there were Japanese, and they seemed to appreciate the rice size options.
They probably would enjoy it since they can't handle spicy food!
This dish is quite good for the elderly!
My wallet got a bit thinner, so I might need to think twice about returning.
If I crave tail again, I might head to Yeongdeungpo next time.
Goodbye!
