Jeil Gopchang Hongdae: Finally Tried the Gopchang My Friend Raved About!
I finally visited Jeil Gopchang, the place my friend had been praising non-stop!
I heard the main Wangsimni branch is far and the waiting lines are insane, so I went to the Hongdae branch for better accessibility.
The octopus sundubu jjigae (tofu stew) that comes as a complimentary side is amazing.
The spicy broth perfectly cuts through the greasiness of the gopchang!

They grill it deliciously and neatly for you. Hehe 😄
The gopchang was packed with 곱 (fatty goodness), making it so chewy and flavorful!
Now I understand why my friend insisted I had to come!
Another highlight: the flavorful pa-kimchi (scallion kimchi)!
It's a complimentary side dish, and it goes incredibly well with the gopchang.
Like the jjigae, it cuts through the greasiness, allowing you to enjoy the gopchang even more.
Fried rice is a must-have for Koreans, right? ❤️
