Let me introduce you to Heukmiga, a Seogwipo gem that I visited for my first meal after arriving in Jeju Island. This restaurant is a favorite among locals, selling Hwangchil Suyuk, and I paid for everything myself!
Some of you might be unfamiliar with Hwangchil Suyuk. If you enjoy drinking, this place is sure to satisfy you. Let me quickly introduce you to this excellent spot!
Location
Here's the exterior of Heukmiga in Seogwipo, a Hwangchil Suyuk restaurant I enjoyed during my Jeju trip. It's located in Donghong-dong, Seogwipo-si.
Interior
This is the interior of Heukmiga, a Seogwipo Hwangchil Suyuk restaurant. It's a hidden gem known only to those in the know. The spacious interior and numerous tables make it a popular venue for company dinners.
That day, there seemed to be a company dinner, as many customers were already dining inside. We made a reservation by phone two hours in advance for a more comfortable dining experience.
Anyway, upon entering and mentioning our reservation time, the staff guided us to our table, which was already set with side dishes, thanks to our advance booking.
Menu
Restaurants that sell a single dish are usually the real deal, and this place also sells only Hwangchil Suyuk. We ordered three servings of Hwangchil Suyuk and noodle add-ons to match the number of people in our group.
Ordered Items
Dombe Gogi Hwangchil Suyuk: ₩20,000 * 3
Soju: ₩5,000
Extra Fresh Noodles: ₩2,000
Hwangchil Suyuk
Not long after we placed our order, the food arrived. The Hwangchil Suyuk we ordered had plenty of broth, vegetables, Hwangchil, and a whole chunk of pork!
The broth was placed on the burner to simmer, and the owner sliced the whole pork right in front of us. It looked so tender and bouncy, making it even more appetizing.
How to Enjoy It
This was my second visit, but it was the first time for my friend. The owner kindly explained how to enjoy it after slicing the pork.
Place a piece of the well-cooked pork on top of pickled onions, then add chives or Hwangchil, dip it generously, and enjoy!
Eating the pork with the refreshing pickled onions, Hwangchil, and chives created a unique and delicious flavor. Suyuk can be greasy if you eat too much, but this suyuk was tender and not greasy at all!
The suyuk was great, but the Hwangchil broth was the real star. It had a herbal taste, but it was rich and flavorful, making the soju flow effortlessly. I couldn't stop exclaiming how delicious it was!
Noodles
Another way to enjoy Hwangchil Suyuk is to add fresh noodles!
After enjoying the suyuk to some extent, you absolutely MUST add the fresh noodles you see in the picture.
The owner seems to make and freeze these noodles. The chewy and colorful noodles are incredibly delicious! You have to taste it to know it.
The meat is chewy and delicious without any gamey taste, and the Hwangchil is good for your health. The broth is also so delicious that the soju flows smoothly. I highly recommend visiting this place. You won't regret it.
Today, I introduced you to Heukmiga, a Seogwipo restaurant selling Hwangchil Suyuk that I really enjoyed during my long-awaited trip to Jeju Island. It's a local's favorite, and I paid for it myself!
That concludes today's post. I'll see you next time with another post. Thank you for reading my post today.
