HAO'SUM

Yongsan Ipark Mall Food Avenue

Whenever an interesting movie comes out, I often visit the Yongsan CGV IMAX.

Yongsan IMAX is huge and has many stores, but I always struggle with deciding what to eat.

Today's review is about Hao'sum in Yongsan Ipark Mall, which I visited on the day I watched F! The Movie.

The restaurant isn't very big, so there's often a wait, but since the menu is dim sum, people seem to come and go quickly.

You can order from the menu using a QR code on the table, but it didn't work because of Safari's location-based service issues.

So, I ended up ordering the old-fashioned way.

Today's Order:

Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings): ₩7,500

Black Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings): ₩9,500

Stir-fried Water Spinach (Morning Glory): ₩9,000

Hao'sum Mala Tang Noodle Soup: ₩15,500 (+$2,000 for Knife-Cut Noodles)

The tables were clean.

On one side, there were various sauces and two types of soy sauce for dim sum: regular and 'Bo Zai' soy sauce, to suit your taste.

All the dishes are here! Seems like I already ate a soup dumpling. Hehe.

Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) - ₩7,500

The proper way to eat Xiao Long Bao is to first slurp the soup inside and then dip the dumpling in dim sum soy sauce.

As expected of a dim sum restaurant, the broth was clean and the dumplings themselves were savory.

You could feel that the ingredients were fresh.

Black Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings) - ₩9,500

Black Har Gow are shrimp dumplings made with squid ink wrappers and filled with shrimp.

Can you see the steaming filling inside the dumpling?

It's packed with plump, juicy shrimp, and the texture was great. It was the best thing I ate today.

I'm definitely ordering this menu again next time.

Hao'sum Mala Tang Noodle Soup + Knife-Cut Noodles - ₩17,500

I ordered the Mala Tang Noodle Soup because I wanted Mala Tang.

I added knife-cut noodles for an extra ₩2,000.

Charming Photo

The Mala Tang Noodle Soup contains beef and shrimp balls.

The spicy Mala Tang Noodle Soup tasted good, but it was a little too salty.

Fantastic Scene

I'm glad I changed the noodles to knife-cut noodles!

They were chewy and delicious.

Touching Scene

Stir-fried Water Spinach (Morning Glory) - ₩9,000

Splendid Scene

Lastly, the stir-fried water spinach.

(I didn't take a picture of the stir-fried water spinach...)

Bright Future

The stir-fried water spinach was also a little too salty.

I'd say, 'it's the right amount when eaten with rice?'

Since dim sum usually isn't seasoned much,

it seems like the other side dishes are on the saltier side.

Impressive Scene

HAO'SUM

My honest review (paid for with my own money) is that it was a bit disappointing.

The Black Har Gow was delicious, but the Xiao Long Bao was clean but ordinary.

The stir-fried water spinach was too salty, and the Mala Tang Noodle Soup wasn't particularly appealing.

Impressive Scene

✔️ The restaurant is clean and the food is well-presented.

✔️ Other than dim sum, the seasoning is a little strong.

✔️ Would I visit again... I'm not sure.
