Our family prioritizes the joy of eating while traveling!
We love to ponder over what to eat for each meal, and that anticipation brings us so much excitement.
When the food turns out to be as delicious as we hoped, it makes us incredibly happy!
Recently, we visited a famous black pig restaurant in Aewol, known for its high-quality meat and generous servings.
Most importantly, the prices were reasonable, which made me very satisfied.
Although it was just one meal, the flavors and atmosphere at Dungtanjji will be remembered for a long time.
Here’s my review of the visit (Text and photos by Haijjeong).
1. Location and Parking
Dungtanjji is one of the specialized black pig restaurants on the western side of Jeju, located in Aewol, about 25 minutes from the airport.
Entering the address into the navigation made it easy to find.
There is a dedicated parking lot, so parking was convenient.
After getting out of the car, Dungtanjji looked charming, reminiscent of a fairy tale house.
It felt like a gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretel!
✔ Location: 2814-1 Sinam-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju City
✔ Opening Hours: Daily from 11 AM to 10 PM (Last order: 9:30 PM)
✔ Amenities: Group reservations, pet-friendly, and accommodating infants.
2. Spacious and Comfortable Atmosphere
Upon entering, the first thing I saw was a large aging room filled with fresh Jeju black pigs.
The freshness sparked my anticipation for the meal!
The restaurant is larger than expected, with outdoor seating and two floors, providing ample space for groups.
The tables are large, making dining comfortable.
High chairs are available, so there’s no need to worry if you’re bringing infants.
Pets are also welcome, so feel free to visit with your furry friends.
Additionally, the amenities are excellent, providing chargers, dental floss, hair ties, and even women’s hygiene pads.
3. Price and Generous Side Dishes
We ordered one kilogram of Jeju black pig and a sea soybean paste stew.
In addition to what we ordered, there are various menu options like bulgogi, live octopus, and cold noodles.
* Price of Jeju Black Pig: 66,000 KRW for 600g.
The side dishes were visually appealing and delightful.
They included seasoned cod roe, soybean powder, pink salt, wasabi, dipping sauce, garlic, and meljot, all arranged beautifully.
The signature side dishes, two types of marinated crab, were among the best I’ve tasted in a meat restaurant.
They were rich in flavor without any fishy taste!
The seasoning for the marinated crab was perfect on top of the meat, balancing the richness wonderfully.
4. Aged Jeju Black Pig
The black pig served in chunks had a remarkable color.
It was a mix of pork belly and neck meat, both having a good balance of lean meat and fat.
The careful aging process added depth to the flavor, making it truly exceptional.
The grilling service provided from start to finish ensured that each piece was cooked perfectly.
The thick fat was sliced thinly and grilled like skin, perfect for dipping in soybean powder.
It was an extraordinary treat!
5. Sea-Flavored Special Soybean Paste Stew
Even if the meat is delicious, a successful meal requires a great stew, and this one exceeded expectations.
Packed with fresh abalone, crabs, and shrimp, the stew was a true representation of Jeju's ocean flavors.
If you’re wondering where to taste Jeju black pig, don’t hesitate to head to this restaurant.
It was a special place that turned into another travel experience.
