Dokusen Yakiniku in Jonggak,

A little piece of Japan found in Jonggak

Hello, I'm Taetae!

After a recent downpour,

Evenings have been pleasantly breezy.

So, on a beautiful day after work, my partner and I took an impromptu trip and discovered

Dokusen, a yakiniku 맛집, which I'm excited to introduce to you!

Dokusen

Here's the information about the place:

Location:

3rd Floor, 100 Sambong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul

Hours:

5:00 PM - 11:00 PM

(Closed Sundays)

Parking:

Not Available

A Japanese-style yakiniku restaurant near Jonggak Station.

Located not far from Jonggak Station,

On the 3rd floor of the Mega Coffee building.

At first, you might wonder, 'Yakiniku here?'

Yes, that's exactly right! Haha.

Seats are available for groups of 4, pairs, and at the bar.

You only realize it once you're up on the 3rd floor:

That this is a neat and charming

Yakiniku restaurant.

The interior has about 12 seats,

And the owner runs it solo.

There are only two table seats,

So we sat at the bar.

Something about the cozy atmosphere of this place

Gives you the feeling of being in Japan.

Menu & Ordering

As expected of a yakiniku place,

The prices are a bit on the higher side.

They had a large selection of Sake

And many types of Japanese Sochu.

Today's Order:

Top Sirloin (Chaekkeut Deungsim) (₩38,000)

Brisket (Chadolbagi) (₩30,000)

Sea Urchin (Uni) (₩40,000, Market Price)

3 Cans of Asahi Beer (₩9,000 each)

Table Setting & Basic Setup

Three Sauces

Three kinds of sauces are provided.

Scallions + Soy Sauce

Japanese Sesame Oil + Wasabi

Japanese Pepper Salt

All seasonings are also Japanese style.

Here's a brazier filled with charcoal.

Good charcoal and meat are essential for yakiniku,

And the quality of the charcoal earns an immediate thumbs up.

Let the Mukbang begin!

Asahi Can Beer (₩9,000)

It's a bit sad that they don't have draft beer,

But they give you really cold beer and glasses.

The glass is also thin,

Making it perfect for pouring draft beer.

Top Sirloin (Chaekkeut Deungsim) (₩38,000)

Brisket (Chadolbagi) (₩30,000)

The grilled vegetables are usually ₩8,000,

But the owner gave them to us as a service!

Isn't the visual of the meat amazing?

The marbling is incredible, and it's so fresh.

Sea Urchin (Uni) (₩40,000)

The uni I was looking forward to is here!

I love uni anyway,

But I was more than satisfied with the fresh plate.

I tried eating it raw,

And it tasted like a real high-quality Uni!

Mysterious look

The golden ratio of fat and lean meat

Top Sirloin

Even though it's a silent GIF,

In reality, when you put the meat on the grill,

You can hear the sound of "Sizzle--eeeee~"

Put the thick top sirloin on the grill

And just wait a moment.

Hopeful tomorrow

For the first bite, I just dipped the sirloin in wasabi.

The right amount of fat and lean meat melted in my mouth.

Like this, put a generous amount of Uni on the meat

I tried to get the full taste of it.

Is the combination of land and sea

What this is all about?

Splendid scene

Perfect harmony of arugula flavor + sea urchin aroma + sirloin flavor

The owner recommended

I also ate a combination of sirloin + arugula + uni.

The subtle aroma of arugula, the sea scent of uni,

And the flavor of the sirloin blended perfectly.

It was a combination that made me think, 'That's why he told me to eat it like this.'

I plan to eat it this way next time I visit.

Hopeful tomorrow

Thin and fresh raw brisket, quickly grilled and melts in your mouth

Brisket

I was recommended to eat raw brisket last,

So I grilled it towards the end of the meal.

It's thin so it cooks quickly, and the fresh taste is alive and well,

It feels like it melts as soon as you put it in your mouth.

Bright future

I wish there were more pictures of this as I enjoyed it so much.

Recommended Points

✔️ A hidden Japanese restaurant 3 minutes from Jonggak Station

✔️ The small size retains the original Japanese feel

✔️ The sirloin + arugula + uni combination is a must-try!

✔️ The fresh raw brisket is also delicious

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is it possible to make a reservation?

Reservations are recommended due to the small number of seats!

You can make a reservation by phone!

Is the uni price fixed?

Price changes depending on the season and market price

Must check!

Is there no draft beer?

There is no draft beer, but there is glass of sake.

The owner has the presence of a liquor expert.

Is parking available?

There is no dedicated parking lot in the building,

You have to use a nearby paid parking lot!

Dokusen

It was a satisfying meal.

The quality of the top sirloin and sea urchin was excellent,

And the combination with arugula was perfect.

However, the price range is high,

And the lack of draft beer was disappointing.

Yakiniku is originally an expensive dish,

But it may feel more expensive,

You should think carefully about 'ordering additional dishes'!

Still, on a special day,

When you want to feel good meat and Japanese sensibility

It is a place where you can be satisfied enough!
