While noodle dishes might seem commonplace in Jeju, hidden culinary gems offer extraordinary flavors. I want to introduce you to a local favorite near Sangumburi Crater that truly stood out.
This restaurant excels in crafting flavorful dishes, including meat noodles and seafood noodle soups. The owner's expertise is evident in the broth, complemented by an artistic touch displayed through artwork throughout the space.
I found it to be the perfect spot for a light and satisfying lunch.
1. Haneul Laegi Gyorae Guksu Village

What I ordered: Anchovy Noodle Soup (7,000 KRW), Sea Urchin Noodle Soup (11,000 KRW), Spicy Mixed Noodles (9,000 KRW), Meat Noodle Soup (9,000 KRW), Small Steamed Dumplings (8,000 KRW), Small Glutinous Rice Sausage (10,000 KRW)
We sampled various noodle dishes, and each one was a success. Even the side dishes were fantastic.
Located in Jocheon-eup, Jeju, this restaurant boasts a charming and peaceful atmosphere.
While not overly large, the restaurant near Sangumburi Crater provides convenient parking.
I learned that their meat noodle soup features an anchovy-based broth. This was a welcome change from the typical creamy bone broth, and I was eager to try this unique take.
Both traditional floor seating and standard tables are available. You can choose the cozy, heated floor seating or opt for the convenience of chairs.
The menu offers great value. We ordered a variety of noodle dishes and side dishes without hesitation.
The meal started with simple but tasty side dishes. The kimchi was a clear sign of a quality restaurant.
The crisp pickled radish was also refreshing, serving as a great appetizer.
We began sampling the side dishes. The steamed dumplings, filled with rich black pork, and the surprisingly delicious glutinous rice sausage were both delightful.
The broth was naturally flavorful and complemented the dishes perfectly.
The sausage was more delicious than those from regular snack bars. I especially enjoyed the 'soondae' (Korean blood sausage).
You can add salt or other seasonings to your liking. The texture and balance of flavors were excellent, making it easy to keep eating.
Now, onto the main event: the noodle dishes. First, I tried the anchovy broth, which was clean and revitalizing.
The sea urchin noodle soup was elevated with the addition of sea urchin, giving it a luxurious feel.
The combination of fresh and rich flavors was surprisingly unique.
The meat noodle soup was indeed special, as I had heard. The generous topping of sliced pork ensured that I wouldn't be left wanting more.
The subtle oiliness and chili powder complemented each other perfectly. The combination of noodles and meat is always a winner.
Even the classic anchovy noodle soup was satisfying. It was a familiar taste, but the most addictive, especially on a rainy day.
The tofu was soaked in the broth, creating a burst of flavor and a delightful chewiness.
The soft texture makes it the perfect dish for winter.
Lastly, the spicy mixed noodles are a must-try. It offers a completely different flavor profile from the other dishes.
The sweet, sour, and spicy flavors are irresistible.
The cool taste was refreshing.
The owner is also an artist. His background is displayed, showcasing his artistic talent.
Art pieces are displayed throughout the restaurant, providing entertainment while you wait.
The artworks are also available for purchase. He is an active local artist, so it's worth checking out his work.
The simple and comforting meal left me feeling content. A sip of the broth felt like a hangover cure, even without drinking alcohol.
It was the perfect light lunch.
2. Bada Da

As the name suggests, this cafe offers stunning ocean views of Jungmun Beach. With plenty of comfortable outdoor seating, it's the perfect place to enjoy coffee, ocean views, and relaxation all in one.
3. Gogaek Restaurant
Address: 78-6, Ohyeon-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
Hours: 08:00 - 19:00 (Closed Wednesdays)
What I ordered: Braised Cutlassfish (small) (38,000 KRW)
Since I was in Jeju, I wanted to try braised cutlassfish, so I visited Gogaek Restaurant near Dongmun Market.
The cutlassfish from Jeju was incredibly tender, and the spicy sauce was so addictive that I finished the entire dish.
4. Jungmun Suduri Abalone Noodle Soup
Address: 192, Cheonjeyeon-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
Hours: 08:00 - 16:30 (Closed Tuesdays)
What I ordered: Abalone Noodle Soup (11,000 KRW)
The next day, I visited Jungmun Suduri Abalone Noodle Soup for lunch.
The noodle soup was made with 100% abalone, resulting in a rich and flavorful broth. It was incredibly refreshing and perfect for curing a hangover. The generous portion size made it a satisfying meal.
5. Il Tong I Ban
Address: 25, Jungang-ro 2-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
Hours: 12:00 - 23:30 (Last Order 22:30, Closed Tuesdays)
What I ordered: Assorted Seafood (50,000 KRW)
In the evening, I enjoyed a light drink at Il Tong I Ban, recommended by a friend.
This restaurant, run by the owner, offers fresh seafood. The quality is so good that it's a popular spot among locals.
