As a Jeju resident, I recently stumbled upon a fantastic restaurant in Dongmun Market that I hadn't known about!

It's called Baobee, and it's the first American Chinese restaurant to open in Jeju.

It offers a completely different style compared to the typical Taiwanese or Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurants in Jeju.

I regret not finding it sooner, but I'm glad I discovered it now.

Address:

88-6 Jungang-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 1st floor

Business Hours:

11:30 AM - 9:30 PM (Last Order 8:50 PM)

Closed:

Every Tuesday

Parking:

Use the Jungang-ro Shopping District Public Parking Lot

Baobee, a delicious restaurant in Jeju Dongmun Market, is about a 15-minute drive from the airport and a 5-minute walk from Dongmun Market.

The exterior is hip and has an exotic vibe that immediately catches your eye.

Inside, the space is surprisingly spacious.

While a bit compact, it offers various seating options, from single seats to tables for two.

It's a great place for dining alone at Dongmun Market.

If you're a party of three or more, it's recommended to make a reservation in advance through Catchtable or by phone.

Happy Moment

Baobee's biggest feature is its unique menu based on American Chinese cuisine.

They offer dishes that reinterpret Taiwanese steamed buns (bao) by filling them with American-style pulled pork, pulled beef, and various fried items.

This style of food is new to Jeju, which made it even more interesting.

You order from the menu using a QR code, and water and utensils are self-service.

Bright Future

Each table has sauces like black vinegar and chili oil, so you can add them to your liking.

This Jeju Chinese restaurant makes all its ingredients in-house.

They make the bao dough fresh daily, resulting in a chewy and soft texture.

The bacon, in particular, is made with Jeju black pork belly and 3-year aged Shinan sea salt, without any synthetic additives.

It's handmade bacon that undergoes a 7-day curing process, 2 days of dry aging, and smoking with oak wood – the dedication is impressive!

Precious Memory

The Classic Bao is a signature Baobee dish featuring BBQ pulled pork cooked at a low temperature for over 12 hours, and it contains peanuts.

The combination of tender pulled pork and savory peanuts was excellent.

The Sweet and Sour Shrimp Bao features crispy shrimp with a sweet and sour chili sauce that's incredibly addictive.

Beautiful Landscape

The Pork Belly Bacon Clay Pot Rice is another signature Baobee dish that balances various toppings like homemade bacon and garlic chives.

The Mazhangmian (sesame noodles) are dry noodles with a special peanut sauce, homemade jambon ham, bacon stir-fried with onions, peanuts, and green onions.

The savory and clean flavor made it a perfect meal for dining alone at Dongmun Market.

Fantastic Scene

Adding a little sauce while eating enhanced the flavor even more, offering a different way to enjoy the dish.

Throughout the store, I noticed merchandise like hats, socks, and t-shirts with the Baobee logo, which caught my eye.

The various informational signs placed throughout the store provide tips on how to best enjoy the menu.

Above all, Baobee is a popular restaurant that can be enjoyed by people of all ages while maintaining its unique personality.

Dreamlike Moment

If you want to experience the new taste of American Chinese cuisine that's being introduced for the first time in Jeju, visit Baobee.

It's a place I'll likely visit often in the future.

In particular, the bao dishes offer a unique flavor that can only be experienced in Jeju, so be sure to try them at least once.
