Delicious Dining Experience at Halla Galchi in Jeju
I recently stayed in Jeju for a business trip and didn't opt for hotel breakfast. Instead, I planned to have a meal with my colleagues at a nearby restaurant close to the Lotte City Hotel.
We decided to visit Halla Galchi, which is known for its delicious food and is about a 15-minute walk from our hotel.

Since I had an afternoon schedule, I took a walk to the restaurant in the morning. It’s less than a 5-minute drive, so it's quite accessible by car as well. The parking space in front of the restaurant is ample, making it convenient for those with rental cars.
The interior of the restaurant is spacious, providing comfortable seating that allows for easy conversation among diners.
Although I had heard about its popularity, seeing the signatures of celebrities on the walls confirmed that this place is indeed well-known.
The self-service bar was neatly arranged, allowing us to grab additional side dishes as we pleased.
We chose the Halla set, which features two menu options with the same components, differing only in the type of grilled fish. The prices are fixed at 89,000 KRW for two, 124,000 KRW for three, 159,000 KRW for four, and 199,000 KRW for five people, making it easy to order based on preference.
We ordered the whole grilled fish set for four, which came with abalone rice and a large grilled fish that caught our attention.
The whole grilled fish was served in a pot, simmering at our table, enhancing the dining experience.
Alongside, we enjoyed various dishes like black pork cold boiled meat, black pork patties, butter-grilled abalone, fried fish, and seaweed soup.
The whole fish stew contained a variety of ingredients, including fish, shrimp, abalone, and mushrooms, offering a delightful mix of flavors.
The fish was large and tender, making it easy to separate the meat without much effort. The abalone was sweetly marinated, adding a rich umami flavor.
The fish had no fishy smell and was meaty enough to mix with rice, enhancing the overall meal.
The abalone rice was freshly cooked, providing a fluffy texture that complemented the dish beautifully.
For those who enjoy chewy textures, the black pork cold boiled meat is highly recommended.
The fried fish was unexpectedly rich and had a crispy texture that stood out.
Overall, the Halla set offered a variety of dishes that felt like home-cooked meals, leaving us satisfied. If you're looking to experience a taste of home cooking in Jeju, Halla Galchi is definitely worth a visit.
