Choga Mungteong Jjigae
Highly Recommended Kimchi Stew Restaurant in Chuncheon
This is a 'Nae-Don-Nae-San' (I paid for it myself) review.
Today's featured restaurant: Choga Mungteong Jjigae in Chuncheon!
Hello, I'm Chobabi!
Today, I'm introducing a kimchi stew 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food) located in Sinbuk-eup, Chuncheon-si!
This is Choga Mungteong Jjigae!
This place has appeared on several TV shows and is especially famous as a 'Choi Ja Road' 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food)!
Think of it as a true local favorite among Chuncheon locals.
I've had to give up going before because the wait was always too long... but I finally got to taste their kimchi stew!
Now, let me introduce my review of the incredibly delicious 'Choga Mungteong Jjigae'.

Arrived at 'Choga Mungteong Jjigae' around 11 AM on a weekday.
The wait during lunchtime, even on weekdays, can be intense...
So, I had to go early!
If you hate waiting!! You must avoid lunchtime and weekends to minimize your wait time.
Choga Mungteong Jjigae is located in Yulmun-ri, Sinbuk-eup, Chuncheon.
Parking is available in the designated parking areas in front of and behind the building.
Choga Mungteong Jjigae's business hours are from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM,
with a break time from 4 PM to 5 PM.
Luckily, there was no wait this day, so I was able to enter immediately!
Take off your shoes in the shoe rack and enter.
Tell the staff the number of people in your party, and they will seat you.
The interior is divided into a central hall and room sections, with a charming old-house atmosphere.
Now it's time to look at the Choga Mungteong Jjigae menu.
There are several main dishes, but the 'Mungteong Jjigae' is the best!!
Without much hesitation, I ordered 3 servings of Mungteong Jjigae as soon as I sat down.
They recently added a Suyuk (boiled pork slices) menu, and many people order cold noodles as a dessert after the Mungteong Jjigae. Keep that in mind!
If you're wondering why I called it a Chuncheon 김치찌개 (Kimchi Jjigae - Kimchi Stew) 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food) and then say 'Mungteong Jjigae,' Mungteong Jjigae = Pork Kimchi Stew.
It's called Mungteong Jjigae because they coarsely chop the pork and kimchi!
Just wanted to let you know!
While waiting for the menu, I looked towards the counter and saw ladles with waiting numbers written on them...
There were so many of them!
This means there are a lot of people waiting!!!
As I mentioned above,
it's also famous as a 'Choi Ja Road' 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food), but it was also recently featured on 'Saturday is Rice Good'.
Indeed, Chuncheon Kimchi Stew 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food) 인정 (in-jeong - recognized)!
Choga Mungteong Jjigae's side dishes arrived shortly after.
There are a total of 6 side dishes:
Eggplant Salad, Danmuji (pickled radish), Broccoli, Fish Cake Stir-fry, Mushroom Stir-fry, and Dried Anchovies.
The kimchi stew was delicious, but the side dishes were also so good that I even refilled the Danmuji and fish cakes lol.
Now, the real star: 'Mungteong Jjigae' has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Mungteong Jjigae is already overflowing with ingredients like pork, kimchi, and tofu.
The staff immediately cuts the Mungteong Jjigae into bite-sized pieces.
They use their skills to quickly cut the large pieces of pork!
The pork was already cooked.
After cutting it, it looked even more appetizing!
Next, they skillfully cut the large kimchi!
The staff even lifted it up for me to take a picture lol
The best!
They cut the kimchi diligently, and then the staff left!
Now, we just need to wait for it to boil a little more, and the delicious 'Mungteong Jjigae' will be ready!
The meat is incredibly thick, right?
Now, I'll try it with white rice!
I put some Mungteong Jjigae on my plate and tasted the soup first...
Ahh... it's perfect hangover soup! I had a drink the night before.
The deep flavor of the kimchi soup was so good lol
And the pork, what can I say... it's so tender and savory!!!
Eating it with white rice makes it a total rice thief! It's on par with soy sauce marinated crab TTT
No wonder the wait is so long...
It's going to be my favorite 김치찌개 (Kimchi Jjigae - Kimchi Stew) 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food)!
Adding ramen noodles is a must!!!
After eating some of the Mungteong Jjigae, you have to add this...
That's right, ramen noodles!!!
It's a shame to miss ramen noodles in kimchi stew~
First, add the broth that comes with the ramen noodles!
When the broth is boiling, immediately add the ramen!
I'll wait a little for the noodles to cook...
Personally, I like my ramen noodles chewy...
So, I immediately slurped it up when I thought the noodles were chewy!
Wow... I would have missed out if I hadn't added the ramen noodles TTT
This is also so delicious!
Please, let everyone try Choga Mungteong Jjigae in Chuncheon!!! TTT
So, this is my review of a Chuncheon 김치찌개 (Kimchi Jjigae - Kimchi Stew) 맛집 (mat-jib - restaurant known for delicious food) that I paid for myself!
