Celebrating My Wife's Success at Izakaya Goko in Gangnam

Hello, this is Daddy Bear.
My wife recently achieved great success at work, and I couldn't be prouder!
As a working mom, she juggles taking care of the kids and her job, which must be incredibly challenging.
I wanted to properly celebrate her achievement.
So, we left the kids with my parents for a bit, haha.
And took my wife to a delicious-sounding Gangnam restaurant that specializes in her favorite dish: Mille-Feuille Nabe.
It's a relatively new izakaya in Gangnam.
A coworker recommended it, saying it has a great atmosphere and delicious food.
We were impressed by the kind service and the delicious food!
The place we visited was called "Izakaya Goko."
It's located on the 2nd floor of the Banseok Building, at 21 Bongeunsa-ro 2-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
They're open daily from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM.
The location is easy to find: Take exit 6 from Sinnonhyeon Station and enter the first alleyway.
You'll see the sign on the 2nd floor of the Dwaebong Samgyeopsal building.
Gangnam is notorious for its difficult parking, so we didn't bring a car.
If you do drive, you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot.
Going up to the 2nd floor, we found a spacious hall with various types of tables.
There's a Japanese-style counter where you can fully enjoy the charm of the open kitchen.
The large hall has dining tables perfect for sitting face-to-face with your group.
And there are even tables with curtains for a more private experience.
Since we usually enjoy watching the chefs prepare food at the counter, we chose to sit there.
The counter seats are charmingly decorated.
Small dishes, chopsticks, plates, cups, soy sauce, and other necessities are neatly arranged.
And you can conveniently browse the menu and order using a tablet – a modern Gangnam restaurant!
Even though it's a new Gangnam restaurant, it seems like many menu items are already popular, judging by the reviews.
Signature dishes include aged sashimi with various components.
And Yakitori: grilled chicken and vegetables cooked over charcoal, with different cuts such as tenderloin, pork belly, cartilage, heart, skirt steak, and leg meat.
First, we ordered Mille-Feuille Nabe for my wife, who loves it, haha.
It's so delicious; they should add it to the signature menu!
Fresh cabbage and tender, soft beef were layered, soaking up the vegetable and meat broth; it was really delicious.
The clean and clear broth was also excellent.
Soup-based nabe dishes go perfectly with alcohol.
And since we were enjoying a long-overdue date at a Gangnam restaurant, I thought we should try the signature dishes.
So, we ordered the Aged Sashimi and the 7-Piece Yakitori Set.
I was too busy eating to take pictures of the Aged Sashimi, but you can get an idea from the abalone, shrimp, and bluefin tuna peeking out in the corner, right? Haha.
The thick slices of sashimi had an amazing texture.
The selection varies depending on the season, so you can enjoy the best-tasting aged sashimi whenever you visit.
And then came the mouthwatering 7-Piece Yakitori, infused with a charcoal aroma.
Since we were sitting at the counter, I watched them grill the yakitori.
They slowly and carefully grilled each skewer over the charcoal, adding the aroma.
That made it taste even better.
In particular, the skewers served with green onions.
The flavor and sweetness of the green onions went really well with the meat.
The Gangnam izakaya had friendly service and delicious food.
The atmosphere was perfect for a date, and I felt my romantic side awaken after a long time, haha.
If you're looking for a great date spot in Gangnam.
I highly recommend Izakaya Goko.
