To celebrate my pork-loving brother's birthday, we visited a popular pork restaurant in Sangnam-dong. I made a reservation in advance, and we were guided to a private room, allowing my family to enjoy a comfortable and satisfying meal.

This place is definitely a top choice for dining out.

Considering the crowds during weekend evenings, many people might prefer to leave their cars at home. If you park at the Real Parking lot near the restaurant and bring your parking ticket, you can receive one hour of parking support.


1. Interior Design

The room, separated from the main hall by a partition, had a modern feel. It could be connected to the adjacent room by opening a connecting door, making it suitable for larger groups.

Each table had a menu, allowing us to choose our dishes while looking at pictures. We had heard that the aged pork belly was delicious, so we ordered that first.

The side dishes were presented neatly, matching the modern atmosphere. There was also a self-service bar, which made it convenient to take as much as we needed. This was another reason why it was a great place for a gathering.


2. Quality of Side Dishes

The side dishes tasted as good as they looked. The pancake (jeon) was particularly impressive, with chives and squid, offering a pleasant spicy flavor. The pancake was thin, allowing it to be crispy all the way through.

The fresh kimchi (geotjeori) and green onion kimchi (pakimchi), which are perfect with pork belly, were not too strong, making them easy to eat. Some restaurants don't manage their side dishes well, and the kimchi can be too sour to eat without grilling. But here, the side dishes were well-managed, proving why this place is a well-known pork restaurant in Sangnam-dong. Even just a bite of kimchi was flavorful and enjoyable.


3. Aged Pork

The thick-cut pork belly had a good balance of fat. As soon as it hit the grill, it made a satisfying sizzling sound, and the savory aroma filled the air.

It cooked faster than expected, so I took the first bite with salt. The crispy exterior and tender interior created a burst of flavor.

Here's my personal tip: apply a small amount of wasabi to the hot pork surface, wait about a minute, and then eat it. The strong spiciness of the wasabi will dissipate, leaving only a subtle fragrance. This offers a different experience compared to eating it with salt. The chewy texture and the subtle aromas created a variety of flavors at this Sangnam-dong pork restaurant.

The marinated ribs (galbi) were made with a lean cut of meat. The owner said they use a balanced mix of fruits and vegetables in the galbi sauce, so even with a generous amount of marinade, it wasn't too greasy or sweet. This allowed us to enjoy it for a long time.


4. Side Menu

As we were eating, we started craving rice. Instead of ordering just rice, we ordered the Korean beef soybean paste stew (Hanwoo doenjang-jjigae), which comes with a bowl of rice. The whole family shared it. I had read reviews saying the stew was delicious, so I was curious to try it.

It didn't take long to arrive. As soon as it came, I put the galbi on top of the white rice. I had nothing else to wish for. I moved the meat to the side and continued to grill it gently until the rice came out. In the meantime, the marinade had penetrated the galbi even more, deepening the flavor. The marinade itself is on the sweeter side, so it would be good with yukjeon cold noodles (육전냉면) or bibimbap, but it was also perfect with plain rice.

The Korean beef soybean paste stew contained a generous amount of diced Korean beef. The large pieces of tofu and beef went well together. When I was about halfway through my rice, I mixed the broth and ingredients with the remaining rice. Even though I was already full, the savory flavor kept me eating.

After the meal, we got soft-serve ice cream from the machine in front of the restaurant. Even my mom, who doesn't usually like sweets, enjoyed her meal and finished it off with ice cream.

Every time I go out to eat with my family, I always worry about where to go. I'm glad I found this Sangnam-dong pork restaurant, which has both a great atmosphere and delicious food. From now on, I can suggest going here without hesitation.
