Hoe Tteul Nal's Assorted Sashimi Review

As someone who enjoys a drink or two,

I always look for great local restaurants when I move.

Hoe Tteul Nal is my go-to sashimi place because it's close to home,

but I can also recommend it for its taste!

Here's my honest review!

About the Restaurant

Hoe Tteul Nal is my regular sashimi spot

because it's so close to my place.

A favorite sashimi place in Dapsimni-dong, the outdoor seating with a pojangmacha (street stall) vibe is also charming.

Although it's small,

it has outdoor seating,

which gives it a pojangmacha feel.

Except for the sweltering summer months,

it's fun to eat outside.

Most importantly, the aquarium is well-maintained,

so I have a lot of confidence in the freshness of the fish.

This level of detail is a real

plus point for a neighborhood sashimi place!

but we usually get the assorted sashimi.

Carrot + Ssamjang (soybean dipping sauce) = good for blood sugar and taste

Carrots, peas, white kimchi, sea snails

The sea snails are really delicious.

I discovered my love for sea snails at this place.

They're chewy and full of flavor.

Dipping carrots in ssamjang

makes them sweet and it feels like it's helping with my blood sugar,

so I keep reaching for them.

Bean Sprout Soup

In the winter, they serve seaweed soup,

but they serve bean sprout soup in the summer to match the season.

I personally loved the seaweed soup,

but the bean sprout soup is refreshing too!

I prefer the seaweed soup~

but it's hot out, so~

Mini pancakes with sincerity even though it's a basic side dish.

They're always crispy,

so we always enjoy them to start.

Shishamo is best served warm! Perfect timing.

Corn Cheese and Grilled Shishamo

Grilled shishamo is best when it's warm,

and the owner always brings it out at the right time,

which I appreciate.

It's a small but filling shishamo,

so I always enjoy it too.

but today it was red sea bream, flounder, and rockfish.

I really feel this every time,

but the fish is so fresh.

Wrapped in white kimchi, the coolness doubles

Flounder fin + white kimchi

is a perfect combination.

If you wrap it with Cheongyang chili and wasabi,

the coolness, spiciness, and freshness are

indescribable.

And my unchanging perilla leaf lover ♡

Thickly sliced dotted gizzard shad, the crunchy texture is an art

after almost finishing the assorted sashimi,

so I ordered additional dotted gizzard shad.

The dotted gizzard shad is thickly sliced,

so the texture is crunchy,

and the freshness is so good that it goes down smoothly

without any unpleasantness.

Honestly, the sashimi is good,

but I like this crunchiness and freshness

so much that I want to eat it again next time..!!
