Today, I'm sharing my review of BanGida Ikseon, a restaurant I visited for lunch on a weekday in Ikseon-dong.

Ikseon-dong is full of beautiful and trendy restaurants these days, and BanGida Ikseon is known as a fusion Korean restaurant that harmoniously blends Korean and Western flavors.

If you're looking for a Korean/Western restaurant with a great atmosphere in Ikseon-dong,

BanGida Ikseon is a 5-minute walk from Jongno 3-ga Station. The exterior, a renovated traditional Korean house (Hanok), is charming and full of character.

The interior is decorated with bright lighting and warm wood tones, creating a perfect atmosphere for a date with friends or a significant other.

It's quiet but not too formal, making it easy to have a comfortable conversation.

It seems to be popular because you can enjoy both Korean and Western cuisine here in Ikseon-dong.

A Set Menu: Enjoy a Full Course from Aperitif to Meal

I chose the A set menu. The set is quite substantial, allowing you to enjoy it as a course meal.

The A set menu includes:

- Aperitif (Originally apple makgeolli, but I changed it to lemonade)

- Shiitake Mushroom and Tofu Salad with Yuzu Dressing

- Grilled Pork Shoulder with Tomato Stew

- Choice of 2 Main Dishes (I chose Perilla Pesto Oil Pasta & Black Sesame Cream Pasta with Brisket)

Instead of makgeolli, which contains alcohol, I opted for lemonade as an aperitif. It was refreshing and perfect for stimulating my appetite before the meal.

It was a great choice when I wasn't in the mood for alcohol.

Shiitake Mushroom and Tofu Salad with a Refreshing Yuzu Dressing

The first dish was the Shiitake Mushroom and Tofu Salad with Yuzu Dressing.

The tofu was soft, and the subtle aroma of shiitake mushrooms blended well with the yuzu fragrance.

Overall, it was refreshing and savory, making it a great appetizer. It felt like the restaurant brought out the original taste of the ingredients well, as expected from a Korean restaurant in Ikseon-dong.

Grilled Pork Shoulder with Tomato Stew

The Grilled Pork Shoulder came with tomato stew, and the tangy stew balanced out the richness of the meat, creating a really nice harmony.

The pork shoulder was grilled to perfection, tender and without any unpleasant smell.

It felt like a neat Western dish with Korean flavors. No wonder it's known as a fusion Korean restaurant in Ikseon-dong.

Perilla Pesto Oil Pasta – A Fragrant and Savory Harmony

They usually use basil pesto, but here, they use perilla leaves, which is the key!

The subtle aroma of perilla leaves spread gently, blending with the savouriness of the oil.

It had more flavor than a regular oil pasta. The noodles were cooked perfectly, so I enjoyed it until the end.

Black Sesame Cream Pasta with Brisket – The Pinnacle of Savory Flavors

Next up was the Black Sesame Cream Pasta with Brisket!

I was immediately impressed after taking a bite.

The savory aroma of black sesame and the smoothness of the cream went really well with the rich flavor of the brisket.

It wasn't greasy and had a deep flavor, so I could feel the advantages of both Korean and Western cuisine at the same time.

This menu alone made the term "fusion Korean cuisine in Ikseon-dong" very fitting.

Overall Review and Recommendation Points

Overall, BanGida Ikseon had a high level of perfection in all aspects, from the composition of the food to the plating and atmosphere.

It's a place where Korean and Western food in Ikseon-dong blend naturally, so it would be perfect for a date or a blind date.

The price range was reasonable based on the set menu, and I was satisfied because it was structured like a course meal.

In particular, the bright and warm atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for a place for a date near Jongno 3-ga.

Next time, I want to come with my friends and try other dishes :)
