With the year-end approaching and many gatherings on the horizon, I recently visited Gozen, a restaurant renowned for its tuna in Bucheon, with friends I hadn't seen in a while. The tuna sashimi and various side dishes enjoyed in a private room are still vivid in my memory, so I'd like to share my experience.

Gozen Bucheon Branch

Hours: 11:30 - 22:10 (Closed every Sunday)

Break Time: 14:30 - 16:30

1. Location and Information

The restaurant we visited that day was located just 300M from Exit 3 of Sinjung-dong Station. Thanks to the eye-catching sign from afar, we were able to find it without getting lost.

For those coming by car, parking is available in the underground parking lot of the building. It's convenient to park without worrying about parking, so it's good to keep in mind.

2. Luxurious Interior

The restaurant was located on the 2nd floor, so we went up. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I felt a luxurious Japanese restaurant atmosphere, and I was glad I came.

There was also a counter-style table on one side, which seemed great for enjoying a simple meal. Across from it, kitchen utensils caught my eye, and they looked clean at a glance, showing traces of attention to hygiene.

Gozen, famous for its Bucheon tuna, is a room-style restaurant with over 90% of its seating in private rooms. The traditional Japanese tatami room atmosphere was impressive.

3. Private Rooms

The rooms, ranging from large rooms with up to 40 seats to 20-seat, 10-seat, and 8-seat rooms, seemed great for various gatherings or company dinners. They only use carefully selected ingredients, so I could trust the food.

We made a reservation in advance and were seated at the guided seat. The cozy atmosphere and lack of stuffiness made me look forward to it.

I took a look at the menu. There was a variety of options, from menus where you can enjoy tuna and live fish together to special menus and lunch menus, but we had pre-ordered the Gozen Jin Course.

Various alcoholic beverages were also available. From beer to whiskey and sake, you can order according to your preference, which made the gathering even more enjoyable.

4. Ordered Menu: Gozen Jin Course

After sitting and waiting for a while, the ordered menus were served in order. From the appetizer porridge to the side dishes, my eyes widened just looking at them.

The sashimi and seafood looked incredibly fresh, and it was almost a shame to touch them. Everyone was so busy taking pictures that they couldn't pick up their chopsticks.

They also provided plenty of vegetables such as seasoned soybean paste, garlic shoots, peppers, cabbage, and carrots. The ingredients looked high quality, so there were no worries about the ingredients.

Three kinds of dipping sauces were also prepared. They gave us red pepper paste, soy sauce, and sesame oil, so it was fun to choose and eat by type.

Tuna sashimi should also be enjoyed with seaweed, so seaweed was also provided. It's delicious even when eaten alone, but I was looking forward to seeing what kind of combination it would show with the melting Bucheon tuna.

To whet my appetite, I first took a spoonful of porridge and put it in my mouth. The savory and rich taste was perfect for raising my appetite before starting the meal.

Next, I reached for the seafood. Everything was not fishy and had a strong sea scent, making it hard to put down the chopsticks once you tasted it.

The crispy fried food was also exactly my taste. The crispy outside and moist inside made the crispy sound attract everyone's attention when you took a bite.

They also gave us stir-fried octopus, so I took a handful and tasted it. The spiciness was moderate, and it was enough to eat a bowl of rice with just this.

While tasting each one, they also gave us two pieces of sushi. As expected, the sushi from a high-end Japanese restaurant showed a different level of quality from other places.

I also reached for the grilled fish and butter-grilled shrimp. The fish, seasoned just right, was good to eat in between meals, and the savory shrimp made me empty a plate in an instant.

They also gave us salty tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), so I quickly picked it up and ate it. The soft texture and sweet and salty charm were really amazing.

5. High-Quality Tuna

I turned my attention to Bucheon tuna in earnest. The sprinkled gold powder made me feel like I was being treated like royalty. In addition, they gave us plenty of sliced raw fish, so I could see the owner's generosity.

I couldn't help but pick up and taste the tuna by itself. It melted away as soon as it touched my mouth, and it was no exaggeration to say that it was the best tuna sashimi I've ever eaten.

The sliced raw fish also had a sweet taste that I could feel as I chewed, showing a different charm from Bucheon tuna, so my chopsticks kept reaching for it.

It was even better when eaten with radish sprouts using seaweed. The soft texture that chewed smoothly without even chewing and the radish sprouts that added to the lacking texture created a fantastic collaboration.

The grand finale was a cool clam soup. I couldn't believe how well seasoned and refreshing it was, and it was perfect as a side dish for alcohol. There were plenty of clams in it, so it was fun to pick and eat.

After rinsing my mouth with savory scorched rice, I was finally full. It felt like it was cleaning my stuffy mouth, so it was perfect for finishing. I had a great time eating such a perfect Japanese course meal at Gozen. If you are looking for a place that is good at Bucheon tuna, I hope you will visit it.
