A Wood-Fired Pizza Adventure in Andong: Beyond the Braised Chicken!

During the recent holiday, it was all about eating, sleeping, and repeating! I was such a glutton. ๐ท
On my last trip to Andong, I decided to try something different besides the famous Andong braised chicken (jjimdak).
Turns out, it was a chain restaurant โ not a secret anymore! ๐
I was searching for a good wood-fired pizza place in Andong, something other than the usual *jjimdak* and I found Ggot Pi Neun Hwadeok Pizza D485 (์๋์ )
Address: 383, Jebiwon-ro, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea
Hours: Tue - Sun 11:30 - 21:30 (Break time 15:00 - 17:00, Last order 20:30)
Parking: Very spacious!
The parking lot was huge and the exterior was so pretty, I was in a great mood before even going inside. I thought, "I finally found a good restaurant!"
I knew it would be crowded during the holiday, but if I had arrived any later, I might not have even gotten in!
Turns out, you can make reservations using the Nowaiting app.
There were 6 teams ahead of us, but we only waited about 20 minutes, maybe because the turnover rate is fast, or we just came at the right time.
We entered around 1:30 PM, and there was already a sign at the entrance saying they were closing due to sold-out ingredients! Break time was at 3 PM but ingredients were already sold out before that! Wow, this place must be really popular, which raised my expectations even more. ๐
The restaurant was huge with lots of tables. Even so, it didn't feel too chaotic, and the floor-to-ceiling windows created a nice atmosphere. Overall, it was nice! ๐
The self-service bar had pickles, plates, napkins, and a coffee machine for teatime. But even the coffee machine had a long wait! That's where I started to raise my eyebrow. ๐คจ
The interior is really pretty! There are many tables for big groups, so it's a great place for families or even a date! :-D
We ordered as soon as we sat down, but it felt like half the menu was already sold out. ๐ฅ
It was only a little after 1:30 PM, and such a big restaurant was already sold out...
Customers kept coming, but since they closed early, many had to turn back. If you're visiting on a weekend or holiday, make sure to make a reservation or check the app!
Still, it was nice to get out for a change. The food looked delicious, and we got in safely, so... haha, I was happy.
I wanted to order the Jjukkumi (small octopus) Fondue but it was sold out, so we ordered something else!
We got Carbonara and Gambari Hot Pilaf.
The Carbonara was a basic carbonara, nothing particularly special. It was a little dry and the sauce wasn't abundant enough. ๐ It seemed like it was getting drier and drier as the meal went on.
The Pilaf was surprisingly good! It was a little spicy, perfect to eat with the rich pizza and pasta. I think the spice level may be too much for children.
The shrimp was nice and plump too. ~
We came to a wood-fired pizza place, so of course, we had to try the pizza!
We ordered the Margherita Con Bufala.
It's a good size for two people. They put a candle underneath, so the cheese stayed warm until the end of the meal.
The dough was so chewy! I don't usually eat the crust, but it was delicious.
My boyfriend said it wasn't really his taste, probably because it's oily. The tomato sauce and flavor were stronger than expected, so people who don't like tomatoes might not like it.

It seems like mostly locals from Andong come here, rather than tourists.
Turns out Ggot Pi Neun Hwadeok Pizza is a chain... haha.
I don't know if it's worth waiting in line for while visiting Andong...?!
