Jeju Island is famous for its black pork, and while there are countless restaurants offering it, we decided to skip the ordinary barbecue places during this trip. Instead, we sought out a unique restaurant in Seogwipo that boasts a special atmosphere and distinctive flavors: Borum Forest.

This restaurant stands out with its unique cooking method called 'smoked grilling' and is surrounded by a beautiful forest, creating a whimsical ambiance that delighted both our eyes and taste buds.

Upon arriving at Borum Forest, we were instantly captivated by its charming name and beautiful surroundings. We had seen it on social media and made it a must-visit for our trip to Jeju.

The first impression exceeded our expectations as we entered the restaurant, greeted by stunning views of the stone walls and windbreak trees that enveloped the building.

Parking is convenient with a dedicated lot, making it easy for everyone, including novice drivers. Located just a 5-minute drive from the Jungmun Tourist Complex and close to popular hotels like We Hotel and The Shiena Resort, it’s an ideal dining spot.

We made a reservation in advance, so we were seated without waiting. Given its popularity, especially during peak hours, we recommend booking ahead to avoid long waits. If you happen to visit without a reservation, the restaurant has a comfortable waiting area where you can relax while waiting for your table.

We were fortunate to be seated by the window, allowing us to enjoy a lovely view of the forest while dining. The serene scenery made our meal even more enjoyable, providing a peaceful atmosphere that enhanced our dining experience.

Outside, we spotted the traditional smoking oven used for the black pork, made specifically for slow-cooking the meat with gentle heat.

For our meal, we ordered the 'Manguri Smoked Grilled Set' for two, which included a variety of cuts: black pork belly, black neck meat, bone ribs, shoulder meat, and skirt steak. The side dishes were beautifully arranged, featuring a special soy sauce, seasoned radish, and various kimchi, making it a feast for the eyes and palate.

The highlight was the Manguri Smoked Grilled Pork, which offered a new perspective on Jeju black pork. The aroma was incredible, and the texture and flavor were exceptional. The meat melted in our mouths, free from any unpleasant odors.

Pairing the pork with the side dishes elevated the taste experience, especially when dipped in the restaurant's homemade soy sauce. The quality of the meat and the expertise in smoking made it clear why Borum Forest is celebrated as a top black pork restaurant in Jeju.

We also ordered a side of radish salad fried rice, which was crunchy and flavorful, perfectly balancing spiciness and sweetness. It was a fantastic accompaniment to the pork.

If you're looking for a special place to enjoy Jeju black pork in a great atmosphere during your trip, I highly recommend visiting Borum Forest. I'm confident that your time here will be satisfying!
