A Taste of Tradition: Yeonnam Jumak 1987 - Where Good Food and Friends Meet in Hongdae

Today was the day I was meeting my high school friends after a long time, so I needed to find an even more delicious and trendy pub...
And it was even in Yeonnam, Hongdae, which I don't visit often!
But I found it! (^^)
It turned out to be a famous spot for 'Gopdori Tang' (braised spicy stew with 곱창 (beef small intestines) and chicken) and 'Kkotdori Tang' (braised spicy stew with 꽃게 (blue crab) and chicken) in Yeonnam, Hongdae.
It's called Yeonnam Jumak 1987, a Korean-style pub!

There are two entrances to the store!
I recommend using the entrance in the left picture.
At first, I went to the back door (the one in the right picture) and had to go back because it was blocked. ㅜㅜ
The back entrance opens around 9-10 PM!
Since this is a popular restaurant in Hongdae Yeonnam, there's usually a wait! ‼️‼️
This is what the inside of the store looks like.
I arrived around 7 PM on a weekday,
and was able to enter right away without waiting. :)
There are many seats, so it seems like a good place for group gatherings~!
There were also 1-2 tables set up outside, perfect for the current weather.
I definitely have to go to the outdoor seating next time!
The overall atmosphere of the store is well-designed with liquor bottles and a 'Jumak' (Korean traditional pub) theme throughout.
They also have thoughtful amenities like aprons, blankets, and chargers.
The restroom is located inside,
so it's easy to go back and forth.
Pub restrooms are often located outside and can be unhygienic, but
this place was very comfortable. ㅎㅎ

Yeonnam Jumak 1987 stays true to its concept.
I really like this kind of Korean pub.
What's really great about this place is that
if you order a set menu, you get a discounted price on your first order!
It's discounted by ₩2,000, so if you want to have a pancake and a main dish together,
make sure to order the set!
Kkotdori Tang and Gopdori Tang are the most famous dishes here ~!
I really like Gopdori Tang,
but it's my first time seeing Kkotdori Tang. ㅜㅜ So fascinating ♡
Next time, I'm definitely coming back to try the spicy Kkotdori Tang.

They set up a special pan so you can eat it as a shabu-shabu!
It feels more like sukiyaki than regular shabu-shabu.
It was so delicious because you can eat sweet bulgogi with various vegetables! ‼️‼️
The visuals are amazing. ㅠㅠ
The Yuksaejeon came out next. ㅠㅠ
It had Yukjeon (thinly sliced beef pancake) made with beef sirloin
and plump, large shrimp pancakes.
I wanted to eat both Yukjeon and shrimp pancakes,
and I was surprised at how well it went with soju.
It was even more delicious because I ate it with the spicy chili sauce. ㅎㅎ

I was looking for a place to chat with my friends over soju and good food in Yeonnam after a long time,
and this place had everything we wanted! ᵎ
The dishes are diverse and plentiful,
so it's great for both dinner and drinks,
and it would also be great for a simple second round with their special makgeolli.
I couldn't drink makgeolli because I was drinking soju,
but the tables next to us were all drinking makgeolli. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
Next time, I'm definitely going to try the Gopdori and Kkotdori Tang. ㅎㅎ
