A Taste of Korea: Spicy Jjajangmyeon and Tangy Sweet & Sour Chicken in Insadong

Last week, after the long Chuseok and Hangeul Day holidays, I had so much fun for five whole days, but I felt a little sad thinking about returning to my daily routine the following week ㅠㅠ So, I took a trip to Insadong after a long time! Maybe it was thanks to the Kedeheon effect, but even on a rainy day, Insadong was bustling with foreigners, which made it a great place for a date ㅎㅎㅎ
For dinner, I suddenly craved Chinese food, so I went to a Chinese restaurant in Insadong and I'm going to introduce it to you! Let me introduce you to Insadong Hwawon, a charming Chinese restaurant located in an alleyway in Insadong :)
Operating Hours: Mon-Fri 10:30 AM - 9:00 PM
Sat-Sun 10:30 AM - 8:00 PM
Insadong Hwawon is located in Insadong, about 300m from Anguk Station!
As a famous restaurant in Insadong, it's located in a hanok (traditional Korean house) in an alleyway! Let's go inside.
The interior is cozy and charming.
It mainly consists of tables for four people, and there was also a group table that could seat eight or more people in the middle.
There were also many celebrity autographs throughout the restaurant.
We took a seat and looked at the menu!
They have a variety of dishes, and after debating whether to have Jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup) or Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), we ordered the Spicy Jjajangmyeon for two people, which is Insadong Hwawon's recommended menu item!
For the entree, we ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken (Kanpunggi), which is a best-selling item among the Hwawon special menus!
They also have alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, so please keep that in mind!
A simple review event where you get free fried dumplings is also available, so please refer to it ㅎㅎ
The Spicy Jjajangmyeon and Sweet & Sour Chicken that came out shortly after!
As expected from a Chinese restaurant, the dishes came out quickly????
First, the Spicy Jjajangmyeon is full of a spicy + sweet aroma!
If you look at the ingredients, they are plentiful! Bok choy???? Onion???? Meat???? Spicy Cheongyang peppers to add a spicy flavor????️

It contains various seafood such as shrimp???? mushrooms, and squid????!
Sweet & Sour Chicken with a slightly unique visual!
Usually, when you think of Sweet & Sour Chicken, you think of pieces of fried chicken like sweet and sour pork, but Insadong Hwawon uses whole chicken tenderloin to make Sweet & Sour Chicken ㅎㅎ
So the pieces are large, and it looks even more delicious!

Let's cut it into bite-sized pieces!
It was nice because it was more savory than regular Sweet & Sour Chicken because it was fried with whole tenderloin!
The combination of spicy Sweet & Sour Chicken sauce and crispy fried chicken was great????
Now, the delicious-looking Spicy Jjajangmyeon!

What can I say about Jjajangmyeon? It's so delicious, but it looks even more delicious with the addition of Cheongyang peppers that Koreans will love!
The noodles were thinner than usual, so the sauce was well-absorbed, which I personally liked more.
There are plenty of ingredients such as shrimp and squid,

It was slightly unique that the king oyster mushrooms were cut into large pieces, but the texture was good and it went well with it!

The combination of the crunchy bok choy texture and the plump shrimp was also good! Spicy Jjajangmyeon that any Korean can enjoy without any dislikes????????
