A Spontaneous Trip to Sokcho with Family and a Dog-Friendly Restaurant Find
Hello everyone! ^^
It's a beautiful autumn day.
My husband, “Cucumber” (Oi-nim), loves the sea and fresh seafood.
Suddenly, he suggested a trip to the East Sea!
We also decided to bring my 94-year-old father, who lives nearby and loves drives. So, we made a quick departure from Geumho-dong a little after 10:30 AM.
I thought the post-National Liberation Day season meant no traffic, but we encountered a little bit of congestion.
Since my father doesn’t eat raw fish, we searched for a local Sokcho restaurant serving Korean home-style meals that was also dog-friendly (for our dog, Iji-goon).
We chose Sokcho-rok!
After a short break at the Hongcheon rest area, we finally arrived in Sokcho after 2 PM, so late!
Oh no!!
But guess what?
A sign on the door said, "Sold out for today.”
We were hungry and disappointed since it was past lunchtime. What to do? Just as we were about to look for another place…
…an employee came out and asked how many were in our party.
Happily, I replied, “Three!”
She said we could be seated if we each ordered different dishes!
Wow!!
We were so happy!
We excitedly went inside.
The restaurant was styled like a cafe, very cute and charming.
We were seated at a table tucked away inside.
Since we had Iji-goon with us, we were seated in a separate area.
There was a large mirror, perfect for taking photos!
Our seats had a great view of the scenery outside.
It felt like being invited to a clean and pretty country home and being treated to a special meal.
Menu & Ordering
The menu offered something for everyone. No picky eaters here!
I had already picked out what I wanted, so we ordered right away.
Our Order:
Father: Spicy Pork and Squid Bulgogi Set Meal (Osam Bulgogi) - ₩12,000
Cucumber (Husband): Sokcho Seafood Ramen + Rice Balls - ₩14,000
Me: Sokcho Red Crab Fried Rice - ₩14,000
Side: Mt. Seorak Potato Pancake - ₩7,000
Total: ₩47,000

My father and husband were eagerly awaiting their meals.
The staff explained each dish as it was served.
Very friendly! ^^
They mentioned that on weekends, they might close early if they run out of ingredients.
Coming during lunch hours is a bit risky~~~~~
The basic side dishes were set with water.
The small and cute tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) were delicious!
They gave us ice in our cups!
The water was so refreshing and tasted amazing!
The salad looked fresh, and the kimchi was delicious!
My husband said the jeotgal (fermented seafood) was delicious with the fried rice.
The Spicy Pork and Squid Bulgogi (Osam Bulgogi) was served with seaweed soup.
Be careful, the iron plate is hot!
The amount of seaweed soup was just right.
It wasn't spicy and was good to eat with rice.
The squid was tender.
Perfect for my father to eat.
Sokcho Red Crab Fried Rice
It was so beautifully presented that it was almost a shame to eat it~~~
Decorated with red crab meat.
Eating the fried rice with the egg was exactly my style!
I could eat this once a week!
I let my father and my husband try it.
My husband’s Sokcho Seafood Ramen and Rice Balls
The ramen was loaded with seafood!
I took a bite, and it was really delicious!
This was my father’s favorite dish!

My husband seemed a little disappointed with the portion size, haha.
The potato pancake came in three perfect pieces.
We each ate one piece.
The potato pancake was homemade and chewy.

We gave him a chew toy and snacks.
Korean home-style meals
The beautiful plating made the food even more delicious at Sokcho-rok.
For men with large appetites, ordering an extra dish would be enough to fill you up!
Clean Plates!~~~
It doesn't come with lots of side dishes like traditional Korean meals, but it was neat and clean!! The portions were just right for me, personally I liked it! ^^
Next time I come to Sokcho, I want to come here again for a light lunch.
