A Spicy Seafood Paradise: Discovering Gaenari Agujjim in Hapjeong!

Hello everyone! My boyfriend and I decided to go on a date in Hongdae after a long time!! I've heard that Hapjeong is the new hot spot for restaurants, so I searched for some good places around the area.

We were wondering what to eat when it started raining, and we both craved something spicy and flavorful. That's when I discovered Gaenari Agujjim!

After looking it up, I realized it wasn't just any Agujjim (braised spicy monkfish stew). It was so delicious that I had to share my review. Agujjim restaurants are not that common around Hongdae and Hapjeong, but Gaenari Agujjim is more unique and tasty than any other Agujjim I've had. I loved it! ʚ♥ɞ

Walking about 3 minutes from Hapjeong Station Exit 3, you'll find a large building with a yellow Gaenari (forsythia) tree model.

The exterior is neat and cute, and as a girlfriend, I already loved it! 🤩 We also took a photo in front of the mirror, and it turned out so well that it was perfect for an Instagram story! ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

As soon as I entered, the clean and spacious interior caught my eye! ✨ The tables were spaced generously, which was great, and the warm lighting created a cozy atmosphere, making it perfect for a date! I came with my boyfriend, but it also seemed like a great place to hang out and chat with friends.

I think many Korean restaurants don't focus much on interior design, but this place was so clean that the food felt fresher, and I got a good impression on hygiene. I loved it! ଘ(੭♡⸝⸝⸝ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ ﹏ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ ⸝⸝)੭

As soon as we sat down, they set up the side dishes and sauces, which were so diverse that I felt pampered. Even the GAENARI logo on each plate was so cute! So much detail in the dishes... I love it! 🤩

Since we came to Gaenari Agujjim, we decided to try the most famous item on the menu!

We ordered the signature Daechang (large intestine) Agujjim (for 2 people)!✨ Unlike other Agujjims, this one includes daechang and goni (fish milt)!

From the visuals, I could see that it was full of goni and daechang, making my mouth water... 침고였어요••🤩 I've never had such plump daechang before!!! ㅠㅠ♥

When you order the signature Daechang Agujjim, the staff puts on a fire show right in front of you, adding a smoky flavor! 🔥 It was enjoyable for both the eyes and the taste buds, making it a great date spot. My boyfriend even turned on his camera and started recording! ㅋㅋㅋ ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )

Seriously, Gaenari Agujjim is so delicious... Everything is top-notch. The monkfish is chewy and plump with plenty of meat, and the daechang is bursting with savory juices! I'd never had goni before, but if I knew it was this savory, I would have eaten it sooner. I've been missing out for 2n years!

I also loved that you can adjust the spiciness, and it wasn't too overpowering! My boyfriend can't handle spicy food well, so I was worried it would be too spicy, but it was great that we could adjust the spiciness. 🤩

Eating it with the chives and bean sprouts added a nice texture and the savory juices combined perfectly. 🤩 The signature Daechang Agujjim has so many different ingredients that it's fun to mix and match with each bite! Monkfish + daechang + chives is the best combination... My boyfriend said it was his first time having this kind of Agujjim and was amazed by it, which made me laugh ㅋㅋㅋ

And everyone... If you come to Gaenari Agujjim, please, please order the Kimchi Pizza Jeon (Kimchi Pizza Pancake) too! It's just goat... It's the perfect combination with the Daechang Agujjim. The kimchi pancake has that signature spicy and crispy flavor, and it's crispy all over. (Kind of like the edge of a pancake) But on top, there's a sweet and savory corn cheese and sweet potato mousse, making it an incredible flavor! Those who find the Agujjim too spicy will also appreciate it as it neutralizes the spiciness, and the varied textures make it the best choice!!! 🤩✨

I visited with my boyfriend for a date around Hapjeong, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was so cozy and comfortable that it was perfect for conversation! The wide table spacing was also great for us I couples as we could eat comfortably without worrying about the next table. ㅎ The food also came out quickly, which was great!!! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who's tired of predictable date spots! 🤩

Even if it's not a date, it would be a great place for gatherings or company dinners around Hapjeong Station. ㅎㅎㅎ
