A Seafood Feast at Ginza Hoesan: A Mokpo Lunch You Can't Miss!

I recently visited a fantastic seafood restaurant in Mokpo for lunch, recommended by a friend. I was so impressed by the freshness of the ingredients and the exquisite taste that I had to share my experience with you all.
Ginza Hoesan is located about 5 minutes from the Dancing Fountain, making it easily accessible. They're open until late without a break time, which is really convenient. They also take reservations by phone.
The restaurant is housed in a large, single-story building with a stylish wood-tone sign that's hard to miss. Parking was easy, with space right next to the restaurant and a public parking lot just a 2-minute walk away.
Inside, the atmosphere was warm and pleasant, and I was impressed by their commitment to cleanliness. The tables were spaced generously, making it perfect for gatherings or group meals. The view of the ocean from the window added to the ambiance.
They have private rooms and even high chairs for children, making it suitable for various occasions. The menu featured several course options, all offering excellent value for the price.
I ordered the assorted sashimi/seafood Ginza Special. Soon, a generous spread of side dishes and the main courses arrived. The assortment of sashimi, seafood platter, tempura, grilled fish, and spicy fish stew was truly satisfying.
First, I tried the seafood platter. The seafood was prepared fresh to order, and the sweet, fresh flavor was simply outstanding. The overall freshness of the seafood was impressive.
The sea squirt (mung-gae) was incredibly fresh. The subtle ocean scent filled my mouth, stimulating my appetite throughout the meal. It was so delicious that I almost ordered more.
The sea cucumber dish was also impressive. There was plenty to share, and the tender texture made it incredibly enjoyable to eat.
The abalone was another highlight. The rich, savory flavor of the thick abalone filled my mouth, perfectly complemented by its chewy texture. It was so good that I couldn't help but exclaim in delight.
The skate (hongeo), a popular local dish, was also excellent. It was large and meaty, providing a refreshing, nose-tingling sensation.
The shrimp were also prepared for easy eating. The combination of the firm texture and the sweet, savory flavor was simply irresistible.
The sashimi was beautifully presented with seasonal selections. It was an amazing experience to enjoy high-quality raw fish at a reasonable price.
The sashimi was incredibly fresh, with a moist, tender texture that melted in my mouth. I was truly delighted to taste such high-quality raw fish.
The special sauce, unique to this restaurant, was a perfect match. The sweet and tangy flavor of the gochujang (Korean chili paste) complemented the savory fish perfectly, making it impossible to stop eating.
I wrapped the sashimi in lettuce with other vegetables. The combination of textures and fresh flavors was so satisfying that I devoured it.
The tempura was another star of the meal. There were several types, and the crispy batter made it incredibly enjoyable to eat.
You could tell from the ingredients alone that Ginza Hoesan uses high-quality products. They are truly committed to fresh ingredients, allowing you to fully appreciate the natural flavors of the seafood.
I also enjoyed the nakji horong (baby octopus skewers) that were served as a side dish. The savory flesh had a rich flavor that kept me coming back for more.
After enjoying the main courses, I ordered sannakji (live octopus), which was taken straight from the tank, ensuring its freshness. A drizzle of sesame oil enhanced the savory flavor and completely captivated my taste buds.
The sesame oil made it even more delicious. The quality of the ingredients further solidified my satisfaction with Ginza Hoesan's skills.
To end the meal, I ordered the maeuntang (spicy fish stew). Since they serve different seasonal sashimi, the broth had a deep, rich flavor.
The maeuntang was packed with various seafood and vegetables, making it incredibly satisfying. The clean taste refreshed my palate and warmed me from the inside out.
As an extra dish, I ordered the refreshing mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). The mulhoe was so generous that everyone was impressed. The variety and freshness of the ingredients made me constantly think that I made a right decision to visit here.
Perhaps because they only use good ingredients, the flavor was in a different dimension than other places. I highly recommend Ginza Hoesan for anyone traveling to Mokpo with friends or family!
