A Refreshing Pufferfish Soup Experience at Dongrae Bokguk Jongno Main Branch

This review is a subjective account written with partial support from the restaurant.
Last weekend, I visited the Dongrae Bokguk Jongno main branch with my father for dinner.
My father had recommended this place for a while, so I had high expectations. Luckily, the restaurant was easy to find – it was right outside Exit 1 of Dongdaemun Station.

Its convenient location meant we didn't need to check a map in advance. Plus, there were many other shops nearby, making it perfect for a short walk after dinner.
We ordered two servings of Bokjiri (pufferfish soup), which cost ₩19,000 per serving. The quality of the food was definitely worth the price.
The Bokjiri broth was clean and refreshing, providing a comforting feeling with every spoonful.

The pufferfish itself was fresh and tender, offering a delightful texture and a savory flavor that filled my mouth.
My father enjoyed the meal as well, and we had a pleasant dinner in a joyful atmosphere.

I also remember the side dishes: *gat-kimchi* (mustard leaf kimchi), soft tofu, seasoned squid, and pufferfish skin salad.
The pufferfish skin salad was particularly memorable as it was my first time trying it. Its sweet and sour taste, combined with its unique texture, made it an intriguing dish throughout the meal.

Each side dish wasn't just a simple accompaniment but had a distinct flavor that complemented the main dish perfectly.
Enjoying the meal with a glass of beer made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

The restaurant interior was quite spacious, with ample space between tables, allowing for a comfortable dining experience.
Although there were many customers, it wasn't noisy or uncomfortable. The overall cozy atmosphere allowed my father and I to have a relaxed conversation over dinner after a long time.

One wall displayed photos of the restaurant's appearances on television and visits from celebrities. This was presented naturally, which gave me a sense of trust.
Besides Bokjiri, they also had various other pufferfish dishes on the menu. I'm looking forward to trying them on my next visit.

This visit has made me want to come back to Dongrae Bokguk Jongno Main Branch often to enjoy their Bokjiri. I was satisfied with the overall cleanliness and freshness of the food.

Remembering the precious time I spent with my father, the lingering taste of the delicious Bokjiri remains in my memory. It was a truly memorable dinner.
