When visiting Jeju Island, indulging in black pork is not just a choice, but a must! During my recent trip, I visited Dol Dam Black Pork's main branch in Yeondong, a favorite among locals, determined not to fall for advertising hype.

Located right in the heart of Jeju City, the accessibility is excellent. Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the trendy atmosphere, giving it a thumbs up from the start!

The chic interior, featuring basalt stone, makes it feel more like a café than a meat restaurant, perfect for taking photos.

As I ventured inside, I found the space to be much larger than expected, with high ceilings that provided a refreshing openness, free from the usual cramped feeling of BBQ places. The spacious table arrangements allowed for intimate conversations with friends or family without worrying about neighboring diners.

The self-service bar for side dishes was convenient, allowing guests to help themselves without hesitation. The cleanliness of the self-service area reassured families visiting with children, ensuring a hygienic dining experience.

One of the first things that caught my eye was the massive aging room on one side of the restaurant. They don’t just serve meat; they meticulously age it, which heightened my anticipation!

As I settled in, the neatly arranged side dishes were impressive. They included a variety of healthy options perfect for dining with children.

From fresh greens to Jeju-style salted seafood and crunchy young radish kimchi, the combination was delightful and complemented the meat beautifully.

A standout dish was the fragrant seasoned water parsley, which elevated the rich flavor of the pork, making it addictive.

When the black pork arrived, my friends and I were speechless! The thickness was almost steak-like, with a vibrant red freshness that was remarkable.

As the sizzling meat hit the hot grill, my mouth watered at the sound. The best part was the grilling service provided by the staff from start to finish!

With thick cuts, it can be tricky to cook them through without burning the outside, but the expertise of the staff made all the difference.

Watching the meat cook to a perfect golden brown made the wait feel like part of the experience.

When I finally took a bite of the fully cooked meat without any sauce, the burst of juices surprised me! The tenderness and chewiness of the aged meat were outstanding.

There was no off-putting smell, just the rich, nutty flavor of the black pork filling my mouth, which was simply exquisite.

The combination with Jeju's meljeot (fermented seafood sauce) was fantastic. Dipping the meat in the umami-packed sauce felt like a delightful meeting of land and sea!

A touch of wasabi added a refreshing finish, ensuring that I never got tired of the flavors. The grilled peppers and mushrooms served alongside were juicy and equally enjoyable.

The chadol doenjang jjigae (beef brisket soybean paste stew) we ordered was so hearty that it could easily clear a bowl of rice! The rich soybean paste base with generous pieces of brisket made the broth deep and flavorful, truly a rice thief!

With plenty of tofu and vegetables, each spoonful felt satisfying. The warm, spicy broth perfectly balanced the richness of the meat, making it an ideal conclusion to the meal!

To cleanse my palate after the meat, the cold young radish noodles arrived at the perfect moment! Taking a sip of the icy broth instantly washed away the richness of the pork, refreshing my mouth!

The crunchy texture of the radish paired with the chewy noodles was delightful, making it hard to stop eating even when I was full. The subtly sweet and tangy broth provided a clean and pleasant finish to the meal!

The overall atmosphere, quality of the meat, and the concluding dish made for a perfect dining experience. If you're looking for authentic black pork in Jeju City, I highly recommend Dol Dam Black Pork, especially for families visiting with children.
