A Memorable Movie Night and Delicious Noodles at Songhwasan Sido Somen

I watched a movie at the CGV in Kondae for the first time in a while.
It feels like it's not as easy to sit in a theater for a long time like before.
Maybe it's because I've gotten used to watching movies at home on Netflix.
After the movie, I headed to Songhwasan Sido Somen, located close to the CGV in Kondae.
It was the perfect route for a meal!

• Operating Hours: Mon-Sun 12:00-23:30
• Break Time: Sat-Sun 15:00-16:00
(No break time on Mon-Fri)
• Last Order: 22:45
• No parking available
I've always gone to the first branch, but today was my first time at the second branch, and my first impression was really good.
The space is much larger and cleaner than the first branch, making for a pleasant dining experience.
(It seems like they remodeled when they moved?)
At Songhwasan Sido Somen, I was told to order using a QR code at the table. It seems to be the trend in restaurants these days.
Since I always eat the same noodles, I thought about trying something different today, but...
Everyone at the tables around me was eating the same noodles!
In the end, I ordered the noodles too! My husband ordered the Chongyumen, which he had been wanting to try for a long time.
While waiting for the food, I peeked into the kitchen, and it was an open kitchen.
I saw someone skillfully cutting a large dough with a knife.
So this is how the noodles are made!
Seeing the process made me feel a sense of trust, and I became even more excited to taste the chewy noodles.
What are Sido Noodles (刀削麵)?
Noodles made by shaving a large dough with a knife.

A moment later, the food arrived.
It wasn't the fried noodles I expected; it was a noodle soup.
I thought I ordered Chongyumen (noodles fried in scallion oil), but looking at the menu again, it was Chongyumen!
Tasting the Chongyumen, I found it to have a rich meaty broth with a soy sauce base.
It resembled a deep broth with Sido noodles, similar to beef noodle soup!
It's not spicy, making it a perfect dish for those who can't handle spicy food.

The original Sido noodles had a bright red broth that looked very appetizing.
However, as soon as I took a sip of the broth... it was spicy enough to make me cough! (I can't handle spicy food well.)
Nonetheless, it had a surprisingly addictive spiciness that kept me reaching for my spoon.
The charm of Sido noodles lies in their texture!
The noodles are unevenly cut, giving them a rustic feel, which makes them chewy and reminiscent of handmade dumplings.
After a long time, they tasted amazing.
The subtle flavors of mala and coriander combined with the deep taste of beef that seemed to have been simmered for a long time.
I drank a lot of water in between because it was spicy, but I thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
If you're looking for a hearty and unique meal near CGV in Kondae, I recommend Songhwasan Sido Somen!
A perfect end to the day with a movie and delicious Sido noodles!
