A Memorable Dining Experience at Jang Mi Gyeong Western Cuisine in Goseong

During our recent family trip, we visited a renowned restaurant in Goseong, Gangwon Province called Jang Mi Gyeong Western Cuisine.
They serve a retro-style pork cutlet that exceeded our expectations with its thick, savory flavor. It was the perfect choice for a family meal, and everyone left feeling satisfied.
While the photos may look like ordinary pork cutlet, seeing it in person is a different experience. The size of the dish is surprising, and the taste is equally impressive, making it a feast for the senses.
Not only is it popular among tourists, but it is also well-known among locals, which speaks to its quality. It has maintained its reputation over the years.
1. Jang Mi Gyeong Western Cuisine
Located at 37-1, Geojin-gil, Geojin-eup, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do.
Operating hours: 10:30 AM - 7:30 PM
Additionally, the restaurant is conveniently located near Geojin Port, Geojin Market, the Unification Observatory, and Songjiho Beach, making it a must-visit for anyone looking for a hearty meal while exploring the area.
The retro sign at the entrance immediately caught my attention. Since the restaurant is located in a market area, there is a nearby parking lot that makes it easy to park and enter the restaurant comfortably.
It takes about a five-minute walk to reach the public parking lot, where you can leave your vehicle and head to the charming building with the retro purple sign.
2. Interior Design
The interior of this Goseong restaurant reflects the nostalgic retro vibe of its exterior. The cleanliness and upkeep of the place left a great impression, suggesting a high level of hygiene.
The restaurant has seen many visitors, including celebrities, which added to my curiosity about the place.
3. Western-style Pork Cutlet
After a short wait, the main dishes started arriving. The side dishes included crunchy pickled radish, well-fermented napa cabbage kimchi, and the essential soup, making it a fulfilling experience.
The thickly fried pork cutlet had excellent quality meat, free from any unpleasant odor, allowing the delicate flavor of the pork to shine through.
Along with the cutlet, we enjoyed corn salad, cucumber salad, and shredded cabbage, which added a refreshing touch to the meal.
The sauce was served separately, allowing us to choose between dipping or pouring it over the cutlet. The homemade sauce had a sweet and tangy flavor that appealed to all ages.
Before diving into the main course, I started with a bowl of creamy soup, seasoned with pepper to taste, which reminded me of the pork cutlet meals I enjoyed as a child.
4. Cheese Pork Cutlet
The cheese pork cutlet looked similar to the regular one, but when cut, the melted mozzarella cheese oozed out, creating a delightful visual experience.
The difference between the two is that the cheese cutlet has a layer of cheese enveloping the meat, adding a unique twist.
The pickled radish served as a side was long and rectangular, making it easy to eat, especially for children.
The napa cabbage kimchi was well-fermented, adding a delicious flavor, and was homemade by the owner.
The cucumber salad provided a refreshing kick, enhancing the flavors of the main dishes.
5. Enjoying with Sauce
To fully appreciate the crispy coating, I initially dipped the cutlet in the sauce but later enjoyed it poured over the top. Even when drenched, the coating remained crispy, and the sauce infused its flavor beautifully.
6. Final Thoughts
From start to finish, Jang Mi Gyeong Western Cuisine was an artistic dining experience. I felt proud to have found a restaurant that serves retro-style pork cutlet so well in the Goseong area.
