During my recent trip to Jeju, I had lunch at a local favorite in Aewol. This place stood out because of its generous set menu, featuring not only the star dish, seafood ramen, but also a variety of options to suit different tastes. The freshness of the ingredients and the great value were undeniable attractions.

Address: 38 Gamun-dong-gil, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
Hours: Daily 09:30 - 20:00 (Last Order 19:20)
Ordered: Whole Seafood Iron Plate Set C (1 person) - ₩38,000
1. Abundant Menu
I ordered the dishes I wanted to try at a reasonable price. The portions were so generous that there was enough for several people to share.
The iron plate filled with seafood looked incredibly appetizing. The freshness and the large size of the ingredients were immediately apparent, showcasing the high quality.
At this Aewol restaurant, they cook the broth right at the table, which was impressive. The savory aroma rising from the hot broth was enough to stimulate my appetite.
2. Helpful Staff Service
The staff was incredibly helpful, handling all the seafood preparation, which can be quite cumbersome. They cut and arranged the ingredients, making it easy to enjoy the meal.
The abalone, crab, and scallops were impressive. The generous portions were enough to feed four to five people.
The abalone, which they recommended eating as soon as it was cooked, was chewy and delicious. Its natural saltiness enhanced the overall flavor.
3. Tender and Moist Octopus
The octopus was cooked to perfection, offering a great texture and a smooth taste. It was flavorful and not at all fishy, making it delicious on its own.
During the meal, we each ordered a bottle of alcohol to complement the seafood. The combination of the fresh seafood and the drinks was heavenly. This level of satisfaction was only possible at this local Aewol restaurant.
After enjoying a drink, I tried the various ingredients in the hot broth. The generous amounts of mushrooms and bean sprouts added a refreshing touch that prevented the meal from becoming monotonous.
A bowl of thinly sliced beef brisket (U-Samgyup) was also served, perfect for enjoying with the broth. It cooked quickly and was tender and savory.
The seafood ramen broth was incredibly refreshing and harmonized well with the toppings. Every ingredient, from the vegetables to the seafood and meat, was delicious.
The clams were chewy and slightly sweet. The seasoning was well-absorbed, and they were served hot, which was very satisfying.
4. Chewy Fresh Noodles
At this Aewol restaurant, you can choose between knife-cut noodles ( 칼국수) and fresh noodles (생면) for the ramen. It was my first time trying the fresh noodles, and I was impressed by their soft and chewy texture.
The noodles were perfectly cooked and paired well with the hot broth. The subtle saltiness was comforting and refreshing.
Adding rice to the leftover broth is a must-try. It's a fantastic combination that everyone will enjoy.
The grilled abalone, served midway through the meal, was perfectly timed. After eating the seafood ramen, the sweet grilled abalone refreshed my palate.
It was perfectly grilled without any burnt spots, showing great attention to detail. The abalone was lean and delicious, making it irresistible.
The snowflake튀김 (튀김) was a unique side dish that served as a great dessert. The large pieces of튀김 were crispy and fun to eat.
I was told that dipping it in the garlic sauce enhances the flavor. The combination of the shrimp's texture and the clean, savory taste was exceptional.
5. Marinated Crab (Ganjang Gejang) - Popular for Takeout
The restaurant also serves marinated crab, which is glossy and fresh. The plump crab looked delicious, and I couldn't wait to taste it.
The crab meat was tender and flavorful, even without rice. It wasn't too salty and had a delightful sweetness.
Moon Gae Hangari stands out with its clean exterior and its location near Gamun-dong Port, attracting many tourists. The spacious parking lot was also a major plus.
The interior was spacious and comfortable, even when crowded. The view of the port from the windows was so picturesque that it served as a perfect photo zone.
The restaurant is also popular among celebrities, which added to my anticipation.
The second floor operates as a café, providing a perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee. This restaurant exceeded my expectations in terms of atmosphere, taste, and menu composition. The joy of trying various dishes and the beautiful ocean view made a lasting impression. If you're looking for a relaxing meal, Moon Gae Hangari is an excellent choice.
