A Family's Delight: Exploring Daejong Kalguksu in Ilsan

As the weather gets colder, my family has been craving warm, hearty soups, especially the Korean beef bone broth.
While pondering where to go, I was introduced to Daejong Kalguksu, a cost-effective restaurant in Ilsan.
They prepare their dishes daily in a large cauldron, ensuring a comforting meal.
This time, we went as a family, including my grandmother, parents, and younger siblings, and everyone was satisfied with the meal.
Daejong Kalguksu is located at 130-132 Jeongbalsan-ro, Ilsan-dong, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Open Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 9:30 PM and Saturday to Sunday until 10:30 PM.
The menu features a variety of kalguksu options, handmade dumplings, and dumpling soup.
They use freshly fermented dough daily, resulting in soft noodles.
I heard the restaurant is run by three generations, and their hospitality, taste, and cleanliness left no room for disappointment.
We arrived just before the last order, and although we were slightly late, we could order a variety of dishes.
If you have a large group, it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance.
I've seen this place while living nearby, but this was my first visit.
The restaurant is always bustling with customers, and they have tables that can accommodate groups without any hassle.
After we arrived, more customers continued to come in, each ordering different dishes.
You’ll understand the value for money once you visit this cost-effective gem.
Parking is available for about an hour, which is sufficient for a meal.
I believe good food pairs well with a moderate amount of alcohol, so we ordered some local drinks.
The flavors of the dishes, including bossam, chive pancakes, and spicy kalguksu, were crafted with care.
The spicy kalguksu was rich in flavor, topped with fresh vegetables and perfectly mixed with the sauce.
The texture of the handmade noodles, made with low-temperature fermentation, was exceptional.
Next, we tried their signature dish, the beef bone broth kalguksu, served with generous side dishes of scallion and napa cabbage kimchi.
The broth was rich, making it a perfect pairing with the noodles and dumplings.
The bossam was made from high-quality pork, cooked just right, and balanced well with the meat's fat content.
The napa cabbage was served separately, and when paired with the kimchi, it created a delightful combination.
The dumpling soup, based on the same broth, offered a different taste experience with its handmade dumplings.
The texture of the dumplings was so good that I couldn’t resist ordering more.
The chive pancakes were served in a large bowl, filled generously, making it perfect for sharing.
Combining the spicy kalguksu with chive pancakes elevated the flavors even more.
For anyone who loves Korean cuisine, this is a must-visit spot.
