To celebrate my first paycheck, I wanted to treat my parents to a nice meal, so we visited a famous crab restaurant in Guryongpo, Pohang: Minam Pocha, located in Yeongildae. I had wanted to visit this place for a while, so I was really looking forward to it.

The anticipation grew as we walked along the beach, enjoying the sea breeze. We were ready for a hearty family meal!

Minam Pocha is located right in front of Yeongildae Beach, making it easy to find. The street is lined with restaurants, and the sight of steam rising from them, mixed with the sea air, was very inviting. I had read online that this place is especially famous for its crab course menu, which offers excellent quality for the price.

The course includes steamed crab, sashimi, fried dishes, and fried rice, making it perfect for a family to enjoy a variety of dishes. Parking was also not a problem, as there is a public parking lot right in front of the restaurant.

As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were struck by the clean and luxurious interior. A sign on the wall stated that this was a mulhoe (spicy raw fish soup) restaurant with a three-generation history, which raised our expectations even further. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean, which made us feel even more confident in our choice.

Looking at the menu, there was a wide variety of options, from crab to sashimi. Since it was our first visit, we decided to order the Minam Pocha Special, which came highly recommended. The price was reasonable considering the variety of dishes included, which made us even happier.

Soon, our table was filled with a feast of dishes, living up to the name of the "Special" course. From steamed crab to sashimi, fried dishes, and various side dishes, the variety was amazing and the portions were so generous that we were almost full just by looking at it.

First, we started with the seaweed soup. The warm, smooth soup gently soothed our stomachs and stimulated our appetites. The broth was rich and flavorful, a sure sign that it had been simmered for a long time.

One of the side dishes was marinated flounder, which was a pleasure to sample. The tangy seasoning was well-balanced, creating a variety of flavors in our mouths. It was slightly spicy, which was a plus, and we kept reaching for it.

The jellyfish salad with its tangy mustard sauce was another delicious appetizer. The crunchy texture was refreshing and provided a pleasant break between bites. This first visit to the crab restaurant in Guryongpo was off to a great start, especially considering the reasonable prices.

After being completely captivated by the side dishes, I immediately tried the lobster tail sashimi. The surface was shiny and glossy, which immediately indicated its freshness. The texture was transparent and chewy, and the sweetness filled my mouth, further confirming its freshness.

The lobster tail was already cut for easy eating, so I dipped a piece in the chojang (red pepper paste sauce). The spicy and sweet umami flavor was fantastic. Above all, the flavor of the living sea was a work of art, and I felt like I had come to the right place.

The mulhoe was refreshing, and its cool taste made it even more enjoyable. The chewy seafood and the sweet and sour broth were a perfect combination, and I finished the bowl in no time. There was so much sashimi in it that it felt like it would never run out.

The lobster cheese butter grill was perfectly infused with the savory butter flavor and melted cheese. The tender and moist lobster meat combined with the rich cheese was heavenly. Every bite brought happiness.

After starting with appetite-stimulating dishes, the main event, the steamed crab, finally arrived. Just looking at it, I could tell that it was full of meat and the innards were plentiful, making my mouth water. The white flesh inside the glistening red shell was a work of art in itself.

The crab restaurant in Guryongpo offered reasonable prices and even cleaned the crab neatly, making it much easier to eat. Taking a bite of the meat, it melted in my mouth and a savory flavor spread throughout. Each bite was amazing.

As I ate each leg, I noticed that they were full of meat and the insides were moist. Because it was well-cleaned, I could enjoy the meat without the hassle of peeling the shell.

Dipping the meat in the innards from the shell, the rich flavor of the sea filled my mouth. The innards were truly rich and had a deep sea flavor, leaving me speechless. The sweet taste made every bite a happy experience.

The crab innard fried rice was a perfect match of savory crab innards and rice. The warm steam rose, carrying a strong sea aroma. The savory flavor lingered until the last spoonful, easing my disappointment.

Next, the assorted sashimi arrived, filled with the fresh scent of the sea. I was amazed by the beautiful plating, and the neat setting made me give it a thumbs up. The even thickness of the sashimi slices showed that it was prepared by a professional.

The chewy texture and clean taste without any fishy smell were truly amazing. The thickly sliced raw fish became more savory as I chewed it, and its harmony with other seafood was outstanding.

Dipping the sashimi in soy sauce with wasabi, the salty and pungent flavor spread, making it irresistible. It was so addictive that I kept dipping it.

I'm not a fan of thin sashimi that disappears quickly, but I loved that this place cut it thick. Thanks to that, I could savor the chewy texture for a long time. There was a lot of sashimi, but I finished it all without leaving a single piece.

Finally, the grilled clams that we ordered as an extra dish were neatly cleaned. The addition of chili peppers and cheese made the flavor even richer when grilled together.

The salty and chewy clam meat had an explosion of umami flavor that kept stimulating my appetite.

The spicy fish stew, which I tasted last, provided a refreshing finish to the meal with its spicy and cool broth that relieved my stomach. I was very proud to be able to treat my parents properly with this visit.

Yeongildae Minam Pocha, a Guryongpo crab restaurant in Pohang where you can enjoy fresh crab and a variety of dishes in one place, was a satisfying place in terms of both reasonable price and quality.
