A Delicious and Healthy Cheonggukjang Feast at Kim Soon-nam Cheonggukjang in Yongin

Hello, I'm Bukhansan Half-Moon Bear!
Soybean-based foods are well-known as representative healthy foods. Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) is a prime example. Today, I'm excited to introduce Kim Soon-nam Cheonggukjang, a famous restaurant in Yongin that was also featured on Heo Young-man's 'Baekban Journey' (Korean Local Dishes Travelogue). I had a delightful meal there, enjoying their generous Cheonggukjang set menu that includes tofu and deodeok (lanceolate roots).

Location, Parking, and Exterior
Kim Soon-nam Cheonggukjang, with a large sign at the entrance proclaiming it as a Yongin 맛집 (famous restaurant), is a single-story building situated on a spacious lot. There is ample parking space available in front of the building.
Interior
The interior is quite large with plenty of seating. We arrived slightly before the weekday lunch rush, and there were already a few tables occupied. Workers from nearby continued to arrive. Tables are equipped with gochujang (Korean chili paste) and sesame oil for mixing with rice.
As Kim Soon-nam Cheonggukjang is a well-known restaurant that appeared on Heo Young-man's 'Baekban Journey', photos from the broadcast are displayed on the wall. There are also papers with autographs from many celebrities who have visited.
Like the entrance, the interior also prominently displays "Yongin 맛집," demonstrating the restaurant's great pride in its reputation. Cheonggukjang refills are available for those who order one dish per person, so please keep that in mind. One wall is lined with infused liquors, which don't seem to be for sale. It seems like the owner has a passion for infused liquors and uses them as decoration.
Menu
Here is the menu. Since the restaurant's name includes Cheonggukjang, naturally, they offer Cheonggukjang and a Cheonggukjang set menu. Uniquely, they also have Napa cabbage soybean paste soup as a meal option. There are also side dishes like pan-fried tofu and grilled deodeok. We ordered two servings of the Cheonggukjang set menu.
Cheonggukjang Set Menu
The Cheonggukjang, served in a pot, arrives first, and the other dishes are brought out as it starts to boil.
The Cheonggukjang set menu includes pan-fried tofu and grilled deodeok, and the portions are generous. A bowl is provided to mix the rice with the accompanying vegetables, and a fried egg is also served.
Mixing the vegetables, fried egg, Cheonggukjang, gochujang, and sesame oil into the rice makes for a hearty and delicious meal. The Cheonggukjang alone is savory and flavorful.
You can also enjoy the pan-fried tofu and grilled deodeok. The pan-fried tofu is thick and has a crispy exterior with a soft interior, making it savory and texturally pleasing. The grilled deodeok is also large and has a spicy-sweet flavor that stimulates the appetite. Overall, it is a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious food in a spacious and pleasant environment. The price is also reasonable, which makes it even better. If you ever find yourself in Yongin, it is worth a visit. That concludes my honest, personal review.^^
