A Day Trip to Yeoncheon with My Parents: Jaein Falls and Delicious Duck BBQ

Zoom zoom! ๑◕‿‿◕๑
I recently took my parents on a trip to Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do.
I wanted to find a town near Seoul that we hadn't visited before, and that's how I discovered Yeoncheon.
We visited Jaein Falls, and for dinner, we went to 'Minsokchon Oakwood Smoked Duck,' which my parents absolutely loved!
Let me introduce it to you right away.
Comments, likes, and adding me as a neighbor are always welcome! Let's get started!

It rained from morning, but it was the day to take my parents on a trip to a nearby area, so I got up and out early.
My first love, my 6-year-old niece Hayoon, also joined us.
I'm Hayoon's aunt,
and we adore each other so much that I showered my niece with love after seeing her for the first time in a while!
Hayoon and her brother Hajun stayed at their grandmother's house for 2 nights and 3 days this time.
It was so heartwarming to see them getting along so well (´。• ᵕ •。`)♡
We drove from Jamsil to Yeoncheon, which took about 1 hour and 30 minutes!
My parents have been to the nearby Gapyeong, Cheongpyeong, and Pocheon areas often,
so I excluded them and found Yeoncheon to be unfamiliar, so Check-in!
Our Yeoncheon sightseeing course was Jaein Falls.
The Zinnia flower garden is very pretty in person.
There is an entrance fee for Yeoncheon Jaein Falls!
Adults: ₩5,000
My parents are over 65 years old, so they received a discounted rate and paid ₩3,000.
Children under 6 years old: Free pass
When you purchase a Jaein Falls admission ticket, you receive a local gift certificate that can be used in Yeoncheon.
We used it well at the cafe inside the falls area.
₩3,000 gift certificate for each adult ticket (₩5,000) / ₩2,000 gift certificate for each discounted ticket (₩3,000)!
It's practically free entry, right?
I found out about this on-site,
so I didn't think to bring my ID, but I just told the staff my parents' ages,
and they were kind enough to issue the tickets. I was so happy! ദ്ദി ˃ ᴗ ˂ )
If you're on a day trip to Yeoncheon like us, be sure to use your gift certificates at the cafe inside the falls area.
Even though the weather was cloudy due to the rain, the bright yellow color shone brightly.
I couldn't even get a solo photo...
There's a wide field of yellow cosmos flowers,
and you can freely go inside and take commemorative photos,
so I took lots and lots of photos of my parents.
Isn't traveling with parents all about being their guide? Roger that!
The Jaein Falls shuttle bus is an open car.
Jaein Falls is located about 15 minutes walk from the entrance, so a shuttle bus operates.
Round trip: ₩2,000 / One way: ₩1,000
Children under 6 years old: Free pass!
I bought round-trip tickets because I was with my parents and niece,
but my dad wanted to walk back to enjoy the flower scenery.
It was closer than I thought, so you don't necessarily need to take the shuttle bus!
But riding the shuttle bus for fun is also a good experience, so I recommend at least a one-way trip. Hehe
I thought it would be a small waterfall, but it's more magnificent than I expected. bb
If I were visiting alone, I would have climbed the stairs and walked all the way down to the deck!
Jaein Falls is bigger than I thought!
Jaein Falls, which is designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark in the Hantangang River area,
was formed about 500,000 years ago when lava flowing along the Hantangang River covered the river and the surrounding lowlands.
The lava cooled and became basalt,
and over time, the current waterfall was completed.
If you're interested in geology, it would be great to explore the geopark by visiting the website that introduces geological attractions, right?
Seonnyeotang (Fairy Pond) inside Jaein Falls.
I was wondering how to use the Yeoncheon gift certificate I received when I bought the ticket when I asked the truck cafe owner.
He said he accepted the gift certificates, so I bought my parents a cup of tea. (Gift certificate used up in one go)
Elderly people like to travel leisurely with a cup of tea, so take note.
It's not my favorite style!
My love, my 6-year-old niece Hayoon.
Even though I see mountains all the time, it's still nice to see them here.
My husband had a hard time during this Yeoncheon visit. ¯ࡇ¯
Hajun's nap time overlapped, and we accidentally forgot the stroller,
so thanks to my spouse taking care of Hajun,
I was able to play the role of guide for my parents. Whisper, whisper.
Hajun, my spouse, and Hayoon are all visible through the window.
After touring Jaein Falls, we made a reservation and headed to Minsokchon Oakwood Smoked Duck, a famous restaurant in Yeoncheon. Move move!
Minsokchon Oakwood Smoked Duck, located 30 minutes by car from Jaein Falls, is a restaurant I found in advance.
I predicted that the atmosphere and food would be perfect for my parents, who live in the city.
And just as I thought,
my parents loved it! '◡'✿
The location is in a quiet countryside area,
and it's a truly atmospheric restaurant where you can grill duck over oakwood.
Minsokchon Oakwood Smoked Duck, a famous restaurant in Yeoncheon.
When you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by this peaceful countryside scenery.
I wish I could take them out more often...
My 6-year-old niece Hayoon also said she loved it here.
I felt like I was getting recognition for my good taste as her aunt, hehe.
Thanks to following Hayoon around, I was able to take pictures of the space.
Hayoon the Boss.
I liked that Minsokchon Oakwood Smoked Duck was open without a break time.
We visited around 4 PM,
and it takes some time to heat the oakwood, so if you call 30 minutes before your visit,
you can start grilling the fresh duck as soon as you arrive!
The owner grills the duck for you. Applause!
The menu only has one item: Fresh Duck, ₩60,000 per duck.
It's a rare sight in the city, making it a special restaurant!
It's my first time eating grilled meat since giving birth to Hajun!
Fresh Duck is ₩60,000 per duck, and we ordered 2 ducks.
After eating there, I think you would need to order 4-5 ducks to eat your fill if you're visiting with 4 adults and 1 child.
Since it was my first visit, and the duck was already grilling on the charcoal,
I thought it would be too much for 6-month-old Hajun to grill more,
so I prioritized my parents getting to eat the meat. (It's okay, it's a filial piety trip)
Hasn't time reversed?
When I was young, my parents would have given me all the meat. Sob sob.
˚⊹ᰔ ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ ????₊˚
The side dishes they serve are in the style of a countryside meal.
It was the first time I realized my mom liked this kind of food.
The owner grilled the meat to the perfect level of doneness.
It was so great! Next time, I want to try grilling fresh duck over charcoal myself.
They gave us the cooked meat piece by piece so we could eat it right away.
We were eating the freshly grilled duck,
and it was raining, which made it very atmospheric and nice.
My 6-year-old niece Hayoon said the duck was so delicious with sparkling eyes!
(I never saw those sparkling eyes when she was eating at her grandmother's house...)
I've never thought of grilling fresh duck over charcoal before... It's so savory and delicious.
Duck's best photo ever.
I took it, but... the angle is amazing..
One bite.
My dad is having a health checkup soon, so he's been eating lightly,
but he couldn't miss out on a glass of makgeolli in this atmosphere, so he ordered it right away.
Thanks to him, I had my first makgeolli in 6 months since giving birth.
It was so nice to have this cozy time with my parents.
Happiness is nearby.

Thank you for raising me, your late-blooming daughter.
I need to see my eternally immature daughter living well before I can go to heaven!
I was able to show my filial piety because I have a head of the household... Hehet
Someday, I want to visit here again with Hajun when he grows up.
A day trip to Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do with my parents ღ˘⌣˘ღ
It was an even more fulfilling trip with my new family member (my husband), Hajun, and my first love, my niece!
If you're wondering where to eat after seeing Yeoncheon Jaein Falls, I highly recommend Minsokchon Oakwood Smoked Duck.
