I've been obsessed with Tamagotchi characters lately...

Anyway, I'm quickly sharing my reviews of the only two restaurants I visited during my recent trip to Gangwon-do.

Both are good, but this is more of a subjective post saying it's worth a visit if you happen to be nearby, rather than a must-go destination.

Here's Hyuhyuam Rest Stop.

Fantastic scene

When you search for places to visit in Yangyang, Hyuhyuam Temple is often the top result - a temple near the sea.

I didn't specifically go there for a restaurant near Hyuhyuam Temple (I stopped by on the way to Namhae 3-ri Beach), but I'm sharing this useful information!

Their operating hours are short and sweet, from 7 AM to 3 PM.

They are closed every Wednesday, so please keep that in mind.

The first rule of a great restaurant: it must be located in the middle of the road.

Beautiful landscape

The second rule of a great restaurant: the menu must be simple.

The third rule of a great restaurant: elevate the quality of the side dishes.

Their *Cheonggukjang* (fermented soybean stew) isn't the spicy, red version you often see at Korean BBQ places these days.

It's the real deal, the kind your grandmother makes, which feels very comforting.

The simple, rustic flavor goes perfectly with rice. It's especially good with the salted seafood!

Bright future

Their *Kimchi Jjigae* (kimchi stew) is the sour kimchi stew that I love.

I wish it had a little more oil, but it's still a pretty decent kimchi stew.

Though, it's not as good as Byeolmiga Gapjatang's kimchi stew...

Warm memories

The side dishes are of great quality, including cutlassfish kimchi, salted squid, salted pollack roe, stir-fried anchovies, and dried pollack seasoned with radish, which I was very satisfied with.

But I've heard that there's sometimes a wait here, so if you have to wait to get in, you might be a little disappointed.

I got in easily and enjoyed my meal!
