It's been a while since I got together with friends to enjoy some good meat and catch up, so we decided to visit Dookgukssam in Yeoksam.

Since we were gathering around Gangnam, we were looking for a room restaurant near Gangnam Station that wasn't too crowded but allowed us to chat comfortably. This place fit our criteria perfectly.

The restaurant is conveniently located between Yeoksam and Gangnam stations, making it easily accessible.

Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the place, and it felt well-maintained overall. The tables were well-spaced, and the room-style seating provided a calmer atmosphere than the typical noisy meat restaurants, making it perfect for dining with friends. I noticed several teams having gatherings here as well.

The interior was comfortable, and the restrooms were very clean, which I appreciated.

Each table had a kiosk for ordering, making it convenient to place our orders. We chose the signature dishes, thick pork belly and aged pork neck. True to its name, the meat was indeed thick and visually appealing.

Personally, I prefer thick pork belly over thin cuts, so I was excited, especially since the staff grilled it for us.

After placing our order, the side dishes were served. I was thrilled to see aged kimchi and crunchy cucumber salad, which lifted my spirits!

Not having to worry about grilling allowed us to focus on our conversation, and the timing was perfect for enjoying the meat at its best. The outside was grilled to a golden crisp, while the inside remained juicy, enhancing the flavor with every bite. My friends all reacted positively after their first taste, agreeing that the quality of the meat was impressive.

The side dishes complemented the meat well, making it easy to finish everything without feeling overwhelmed.

The time spent grilling the meat felt slow, but the thick cuts were indeed appetizing.

Overall, the food was satisfying, but what stood out the most was the atmosphere. The room layout allowed us to laugh and chat comfortably without worrying about others around us. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in a while, the extended meal time didn’t feel burdensome at all. As we enjoyed our meal, the side dishes we ordered came out, adding to the feast.

Dookgukssam Yeoksam is a well-rounded place in terms of taste, atmosphere, and accessibility, making it suitable for casual gatherings with friends as well as for work dinners or important appointments. I plan to return to try other menu items next time.
