Finding Ito
Hello! 😊
I discovered this cozy izakaya called 'Ito'(이토) while looking for a nice place to drink quietly near Konkuk University Station.
It's just a 5-minute walk from the station and has a lovely ambiance. It seemed like a great spot for dates, gatherings with friends, or year-end parties.✨
After exploring Common Ground, department stores, and vintage shops in the area, I thought it would be perfect to enjoy some kushikatsu, sashimi, and various hot pots while having a drink.
The place feels like a hidden gem tucked away in an alley. The signboard exudes Japanese charm, which heightened my expectations even before entering.
Interior Atmosphere
Currently, they are serving seasonal fish, and I heard they have delicious yellowtail! I couldn't wait to try it.
The beautifully presented signature dishes of Ito are enticing.
As I descended the stairs, the walls were adorned with lovely Japanese-style decorations.
Once inside, the warm lighting at each table immediately caught my eye. The cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for dates or intimate conversations.
On the walls, I noticed Studio Ghibli postcards, including Totoro and Chihiro, which brought a smile to my face.
The decor, including posters and trinkets, added to the fun of exploring the space, making it a great spot for photos.
Each seating area has partitions, making it suitable for quiet conversations, accommodating up to four people per table.
It felt particularly cozy with the partitions, and the counter seating looked ideal for solo diners.
Menu Selection and Ordering
Ordering is done via tablets at each table. Popular menu items include assorted sashimi, kushikatsu, and Ito's hot pot.
We decided to go for the spicy beef hot pot and halibut sashimi.
First Impressions and Dishes
As a starter, we were served pineapple sorbet, which was surprisingly delightful!
Despite not liking pineapple, I found the sorbet incredibly refreshing.
It was clear that a lot of care went into making it.
Before the main dishes arrived, we finished it off quickly.
First dish: Halibut Sashimi (23,000 KRW)
I debated between ordering the assorted sashimi or the halibut sashimi, but the halibut won me over.
When it arrived, it was fresh and beautifully presented without any fishy smell.
If you're looking to try various fresh sashimi, I recommend the assorted sashimi as well.
The halibut was exquisite, and you could tell it was high-quality. It was cleanly prepared and had a delicate flavor.
It paired perfectly with drinks!
Spicy Beef Hot Pot
Next, we tried the spicy beef hot pot (23,000 KRW), which was generous in portion.
The aroma was incredible, and we couldn't wait to dig in!
The noodles had a lovely texture reminiscent of Japanese ramen, and they held up well unlike regular noodles.
The beef was tender and melted in your mouth, and the smoky flavor made the broth irresistible.
It was a perfect match with the drinks and a must-try dish.
Facilities and Final Thoughts
The women's restroom is inside the restaurant, while the men's is on the upper floor.
Overall, 'Ito' offers a cozy atmosphere with delicious and generous portions. It's a great spot in Konkuk University for both ambiance and taste.
I left feeling satisfied and eager to return for more dishes next time.
