Soyou Claims Racial Discrimination on US Flight After New York Schedule: "Couldn't Eat Anything for 15 Hours"

Soyou, formerly of the group Sistar, has revealed that she experienced racial discrimination on a US flight, causing shock.
On the 19th, Soyou posted a lengthy message on her Instagram story along with a photo of her US airline ticket.
Within the short but weighty sentences, the fear and hurt she had to endure alone in an unfamiliar sky were evident.
"I just looked for a Korean flight attendant…"
After finishing her schedule in New York, Soyou boarded a flight back to Korea via Atlanta.
Tired from the long schedule, she asked, "Is there a Korean flight attendant here?" to confirm the meal times.
However, that simple question led to an unexpected situation.
"The chief purser judged my attitude and treated me like a problematic passenger."
She explained, "I was treated as if I had done something wrong, and even security guards were called."
She said she felt the eyes of those around her on her. It was a moment when misunderstanding in an unfamiliar space overlapped with the word 'race'.
"Is this racism?"
Soyou recalled that she even had to say, "I'll get off if I'm the problem."
After that, she had to endure the cold attitude and gazes of the flight attendants throughout the flight.
"I couldn't eat anything during the 15-hour flight. It may be a trivial matter to some, but it remains a deep wound to me, stemming from racial prejudice."
She carefully revealed, "At that moment, I thought, 'Is this racism?' I was just trying to communicate in my language, in my way."
What is felt between the short sentences is not anger, but the sense of isolation she had to endure alone in an unfamiliar atmosphere.
"I hope no one is suspected or insulted because of their race."
Soyou concluded by saying:
"I hope no one is suspected or insulted because of their race."
Her appeal was not just a complaint, but a story about respect as a person.
As the post spread through social media, domestic and international fans responded with comments such as, "Thank you for your courageous confession," "I can imagine the anxiety she experienced," and "It's sad that this still exists."
It is reported that Soyou is currently working with her agency to organize the situation and is awaiting an official response from the airline.
The Shadow of Discrimination Encountered Above the Sky
Soyou, the 'power vocal' who was always confident on stage.
However, this confession showed that she, too, can be hurt as a person.
Her story was not just an individual's misfortune, but a warning about the 'invisible walls' that still exist around the world.
The cold gaze felt at 10,000m above the sky, in a space where no one could help.
Even in that, she ultimately raised her voice instead of remaining silent.
That one courage is a small but great comfort to many people who have experienced discomfort for the same reason.
"A world where everyone is respected at the same level."
Like Soyou's words, I hope that obvious wish will come true in the sky someday.
