San E Drops Appeal in Settlement Lawsuit Against Big Planet Made Entertainment

San E has withdrawn his appeal in the settlement lawsuit against Big Planet Made Entertainment. Recently, San E's agency, FameUs Entertainment, filed an appeal after their claim of approximately 300 million KRW (about 32 million JPY) in a contract fee lawsuit against Big Planet Made Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as Big Planet Made) was dismissed. However, they submitted a withdrawal letter in September, abandoning the appeal.
On the 6th, the Seoul Central District Court ruled against FameUs Entertainment's claim in the lawsuit against Big Planet Made Entertainment, the agency of singer BE'O, stating that the plaintiff (San E) would bear the costs of the lawsuit. The conflict between the two parties became public last May when San E revealed DMs (direct messages) exchanged with MC Mong through his official account. At the time, he criticized MC Mong, stating that a dispute had arisen regarding BE'O's transfer agreement and settlement fees.
In response, Big Planet Made announced a strong legal response, stating, "San E received 2.09 billion KRW (approximately 210 million JPY) in a lump sum from Big Planet Made, led by MC Mong, in exchange for terminating the exclusive contract with BE'O and transferring the related neighboring rights. Despite obtaining a huge profit in exchange for transferring the neighboring rights related to BE'O, the profit distribution under the exclusive contract with BE'O has been continuously delayed."
Big Planet Made further stated that MC Mong, who leads Big Planet Made, acquired all the music copyright for 2.09 billion KRW to prevent BE'O from losing the property rights of the music he produced, and enabled BE'O to protect his assets (music) by receiving the settlement money. However, San E is hiding this fact and responding emotionally to MC Mong, who is thinking of BE'O and his juniors.
They added, "BE'O, who signed an exclusive contract with our company in February 2022, had a contract to distribute profits from the remaining amount after deducting expenses from the income during his FameUs days. However, FameUs only paid BE'O the amount obtained by dividing the total sales by a certain percentage and then subtracting all the total costs from BE'O's share."
San E retorted, "Shouldn't the royalty for the profits from BE'O's songs be paid to overseas producers before mass-producing K-content? The producer also says that Big Planet Made's share should be paid by Big Planet Made, but is it right to have them receive the money and FameUs solve the royalty issue? Every time, they buy time to talk to lawyers and don't give the money, so they are small-minded."
