G-Dragon Makes History as Youngest Recipient of Order of Cultural Merit

G-Dragon has set a new record in the history of popular music by becoming the youngest recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit at the Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
G-Dragon received the Order of Cultural Merit at the '2025 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards' ceremony held on the 23rd at the National Theater of Korea.
Marking its 16th anniversary this year, the event is the most prestigious cultural and arts awards ceremony hosted by the Korean government, recognizing the contributions of popular culture and art figures and awarding individuals who have contributed to the development of the industry. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism conducted a public contest from April to select this year's winners. The final recipients were determined through a review by a judging panel composed of experts in broadcasting, music, film, and performance.
Sports World reported on the 23rd, "G-Dragon, who took the stage, greeted, 'I am G-Dragon, the youngest recipient.'" He continued, "After a long break, I've made a comeback, and it will be one year since my return in a week. As far as I remember, I think I was six years old, and the first place I went to, holding my mother's hand without knowing anything, was an audition site. I've been dreaming the same dream ever since. In my teens, my dream was to become a singer, so I achieved my dream, and in my 20s, I received awards. I'm even receiving the Order of Cultural Merit in my 30s, so I'm really looking forward to my 40s," he said.
