Discover the Latin American Cultural Center in Goyang

Today, I want to introduce you to a unique cultural space in Goyang City, South Korea, where you can experience an exotic atmosphere reminiscent of traveling abroad.
Is this South America or Korea? The Latin American Cultural Center offers a vibrant Latin vibe!
I recently visited the Latin American Cultural Center, established by a couple of former diplomats who have collected artifacts from Latin America for over 40 years.
From ancient relics to contemporary art and outdoor sculptures, everything can be appreciated in one place, making it far more grand and impressive than I had expected.
Most notably, the red-brick architecture and exotic benches scattered throughout the area truly made me feel as if I had traveled abroad.
Before entering, there's a small office where you can purchase tickets and begin your exploration.
Opening hours:
- Summer (April to October): 10 AM - 6 PM
- Winter (November to March): 10 AM - 5 PM
- Closed on Mondays and during major holidays like Seollal and Chuseok.
Admission fees:
- Adults: 8,000 KRW
- Teens and military personnel: 6,000 KRW
- Children: 5,000 KRW
- 20% discount for seniors over 65, veterans, people with disabilities, and Goyang citizens.
The center spans about 5,000 pyeong and features a museum, art gallery, religious exhibition hall, and outdoor sculpture park, all uniquely designed as a comprehensive cultural space focusing on Latin America.
You can find over 3,000 artifacts, including masks, pottery, wooden items, stone tools, musical instruments, and crafts from various Latin American countries.
It's a special place where you can encounter traces of the Inca, Aztec, and Maya civilizations.
As you enter the museum, the left building showcases artifacts representing the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations, including pottery, figurines, masks, and intricate folk crafts that vividly bring to life the ancient history of Latin America.
There is also a space filled with masks, which was truly awe-inspiring to see all the masks displayed on one wall.
In the art gallery, you can enjoy vibrant paintings and handcrafted textile works by local artists, which left me in awe throughout my visit.
The underground area is quite spacious, showcasing everyday items that provide a glimpse into life in Latin America.
The religious exhibition hall, combining 17th-century European Baroque style with traditional Latin American culture, offers a unique and overwhelming atmosphere.
Inside, you can find various sculptures that seem to come straight out of the Bible, along with uniquely shaped crosses that you wouldn't see in Korea.
The outdoor sculpture park features diverse sculptures from artists of 12 Latin American countries and stunning Maya mural artworks.
At the end of the path, you will discover a large mural made of pottery, which is quite a sight to behold with intricate details on each tile.
The Latin American Cultural Center offers more than just exhibitions; it allows you to fully immerse yourself in the history, art, religion, and nature of Latin America.
