Despite the sweltering heat of August, our thirst for adventure led us on a memorable journey through Buyeo and Boryeong. This trip was a perfect blend of spiritual tranquility at ancient temples and the vibrant, artistic energy of modern sculpture parks.
From meeting a young novice monk at Muryangsa Temple (무량사) to wandering through the colorful herb gardens of Gaehwa Art Park, every moment was captured through the lens of friendship and summer's natural beauty. It was an exhausting yet deeply rewarding escape into the heart of Chungcheongnam-do.
Finding Peace at Muryangsa Temple (무량사)
A spiritual start in Buyeo
Our journey began in Buyeo, where the historical weight of Muryangsa Temple offered a moment of reflection. Even in the unbearable heat, the temple grounds felt sacred. We were fortunate enough to cross paths with a young novice monk, adding a touch of innocence and grace to our visit.
Walking through the temple complex was a challenge due to the temperature, but the architectural beauty and the surrounding greenery provided a much-needed sense of calm before we headed toward our next destination.
Vibrant Colors at Gaehwa Art Park
A refreshing stop en route to Daecheon
Seeking a break from the sun, we stopped at Gaehwa Art Park on our way to Boryeong. This place is a haven for those who love photography, as the park's cafe is bursting with vibrant colors and artistic flair. It provided the perfect backdrop for capturing memories with friends.
The park is more than just a cafe; it’s a living gallery where nature and art coexist beautifully. Every corner we turned revealed something new, from the play of light on the decor to the lush botanical elements indoors.
Summer’s Natural Harmony and Sculpture Gardens
The lush greenery and the Mosan Museum of Art
The herb garden was a true festival of summer colors. Watching the carp swim gracefully through the waterways created a harmonious scene that made us forget the heat for a while. The vivid green hues and the sound of water were incredibly soothing.
As we explored further, we found various sculptures scattered throughout the park. The Mosan Museum of Art was a particular highlight, offering sophisticated cultural experiences in the middle of nature. We are so grateful to our friends for joining us and taking such beautiful photos to document this scorched but spectacular day.
How do you handle the extreme heat of an August road trip? Do you prefer the spiritual silence of a temple like Muryangsa or the colorful, photo-friendly vibes of an art park? If you're heading to Boryeong, don't miss the chance to cool off at Daecheon Beach nearby! Would you like me to recommend more artistic cafes in the Chungcheong area?
